This museum is along the road from Jaunpiebalga and Vecpiebalga and was opened in 1969. It focuses on the life and work of two distinguished Latvians – the composer Emīls Dārziņš (1875-1910) and the poet and writer Jānis Sudrabkalns (1894-1975). It features items related to the lives of the two men. Music by Dārziņš can be heard in the museum, tours are offered to individual visitors and groups, and thematic and musical events are held at the museum. |

The Akmeņupīte river starts in the highlands and ends at the Daugava, and it is a rapid river only during the spring or after lots of rain. Otherwise it is a shallow little river with a rocky bottom. On the shores of the river is a nice path with several places to relax or to build a campfire (firewood is available). Water from the local streams is potable.

Found in the northern part of Cesvaine, the church was built of fieldstones in the Neo-Gothic style in 1879 by the architect Paul Max Bertschy. The church was restored in 1929 and again in the early 1990s. The altar painting, “Christ on the Cross” (1923) is by Jēkabs Bīne.

This is an uncommon landscape for the Kurzeme region with a protected biotope – open inland dunes with meadows of silver grass and forests of deciduous trees, including the common hornbeam. Tourists can visit the Muiža (Lejas) sacred stream on the right bank of the Sventāja valley, above which they will find Latvia’s most noble bird-cherry trees. Origins of Livani as a bigger place of population are linked to the 1533, when the then owner of the land Lieven established the manor and called it after his own name Lievenhof. The 1678, the first Catholic Church was built here. The city suffered considerably during the two world wars. Name of Livani is associated with the glass. In 1887 a glass factory was founded here, which today has ceased operation. |

The blacksmith will teach you all about his profession, talking about the tools and materials that are necessary, the relevant traditions and the everyday work of blacksmiths today. You can forge your own nail to test the difficulty of the work. The blacksmith will happily attend your event with his open-air forge. This is perfect for students, smaller children, wedding guests or individual visitors.

The first wooden Catholic church in Dagda was built in 1705, while the church that is seen today was built in the Baroque style during the latter half of the 18th century, the work financed by a local nobleman. Important interior elements include the altar, the pulpit, the organ, a monument to the Hilsen dynasty, etc. To the North of the church is historical Dagda itself, with typical red brick buildings from the early 20th century that are known as the former homes of Jewish merchants.

This is a farm where there are some 10 different kinds of strawberries on many hectares of land. Anita Rescenko offers a six-day strawberry cure to improve your health. Pick and taste strawberries, purchase them fresh and clean. There are strawberry masks, dishes prepared with strawberries, clay masks and compresses against joint pains.
