This arboretum is in a lovely location in the Vidzeme highlands. It covers 140 hectares of land and offers a look at interesting coniferous trees, lianas, lilacs, rhododendrons and peonies. The facility has a modern visitor information centres.
Unique species: The Tulip Tree (Liriodendron tulipifera), the Fringe Tree (Chionanthus virginicus), and the Kobushi Magnolia (Magnolia kobus).

This farm is where the Latvian author Rūdolfs Blaumanis (1863-1908), founder of modern dramaturgy in Latvia, lived and worked. The farm has been restored, and it is a typical leased farm in Vidzeme with eight wooden buildings. Educational events and tours are available, featuring family celebrations, the mischief of little imps, and farm work. You can taste Latvian porridge, pancakes, tea, and wine “from the sweet bottle.” |

Gaujas NP teritorijā Amatas senielejas dziļums sasniedz 50 metrus un platums palielinās līdz apmēram 1-1,5km.
Augstas kraujas (vairāk ne kā 40 metru), kurās redzami augšdevona Pļaviņu svītas dolomītu un augšdevona Amatas un Gaujas svītu smilšakmeņu atsegumi, mijas ar mežiem apaugušām, 3-16m augstām stāvām terasēm.
Amatas senieleja ir nozīmīga ne tikai ar savām dabas ainavām. Tās krastus grezno dolomīta un smilšakmens atsegumi, kas atklāj zemes vēstures lappuses 350-400 miljonu gadu tālā pagātnē, kad Latvijas teritoriju klāja jūra.

Rankas Dairy was established in 1996 and manufactured some 80 dairy processing products, including cheese, cottage cheese, cream, fermented dairy products, desserts, etc. This is one of five companies in Latvia that is allowed to manufacture one of the EU’s guaranteed traditional characteristics product, “Summer Solstice” cheese. The products are available at the “Rīmaļnieks” store that is alongside the dairy. |

A store alongside the co-operative offers Straupe Dairy Co-operative products, as well as cheeses manufactured by its partners – Smiltenes Dairy and SIA Latvijas Piens. This is one of five companies in Latvia that is allowed to manufacture one of the EU’s guaranteed traditional characteristics product, “Summer Solstice” cheese. The products have been awarded the “Green Teaspoon” and “Latvian Goodies” status. Group tours are offered a chance to taste the products and learn about the co-operative’s operations. |

Kakaiši is found 1 km to the South-West from Vecpiebalga, in the tiny village of Kakaiši. The Latvian writer Antons Austriņš (1884-1934) was born there and went to school in Vecpiebalga. Austriņš is best known for the short story collection “Puiškans” (1931). The museum features various rural objects, things associated with the author, and exhibits such as his collected works and other books that are worth visiting in the company of a guide. |

“Vēveri” is located 7 km to the North of the centre of Vecpiebalga and offers a look at typical and authentic farms and craftsmen’s operations from the Piebalga landscape in the 19th century. You will wee ancient tools and household objects, as well as a recently restored windmill. |

The New Cēsis Castle (Pils Square 9) was built in 1777 as a residence for Karl Eberhard von Zievers, and it is home to the Cēsis Museum of History and Art, which was opened in 1949. The building has a neo-Gothic tower decorated with curved arcades and window apertures. It is one of the first examples of eclecticism in Latvian architecture. Beginning in 2012, the museum will feature a modern exhibition under the title "Latvia: Symbol of Latvian History." This will be an interactive exhibition featuring the history of Cēsis and its environs since the era of the Vendians and up to the early 20th century. There will be sections on the history of the Latvian flag, the lives of the Zievers dynasty, and the family's great contributions toward the development of Cēsis. The third and fourth floors of the castle are dedicated to temporary exhibitions, and there is a special room there for families and children. The tower of the castle offers the best view of the Cēsis Castle ruins, the old town, and St John's Lutheran church. |

The narrow gauge rail line between Alūksne and Gulbene has tracks that are 750 mm wide and was once part of a rail line between Stukmaņi and Valka. Today it is the only passenger train on a narrow gauge railroad in Latvia, offering services every day. The Alūksne station was opened in 1903, and 33 km line with 10 stations and other stop scan be covered in approximately 90 minutes. A festival is held each year -- one that is very popular among fans of small trams. |

This is a lovely place in Sigulda which has been painted (as the word "gleznotāji", which means "painters" suggests) and photographed for centuries. This is basically not a hill at all, it's just the place where the shore of the ancient Gauja River valley is split by the mighty Vējupīte ravine. You will have an excellent view of the Turaida Castle and the river valley. There are leisure facilities and a viewing platform there. You can ride to Paradīze hill via an electric car. |

Some 250 deer graze on 100 ha of land in the Umurga Parish. The farm also offers a look at peacocks, rabbits, sheep, goats and a pony. Biological products are on sale, and visitors are welcome all year round.
