The Ķemeri National Park (est. 1997) covers wetlands, the shallow waters of the Bay of Rīga, overgrown seaside lakes, swamps, damp forests and wetland meadows. There are many important plants (including some 25% of those that are declared to be rare) and animals, including an area where the locations of nesting and migrating birds are protected. The park includes one of the largest swamps in Latvia – the Great Ķemeri Swamp. This is an important location for sulphurous waters and medicinal dunes, and back in history, that was the reason for the establishment of popular spas in Ķemeri. Preiļu Siers is the largest cheese manufacturer in Latvia and exports 90% of its output. There are three “Preilis” stores in the town (Daugavpils Street 66A, Tirgus laukums 5, Rēzeknes iela 15) where are the widest range of Preiļu Siers products. Three kind of tastings of cheese "Čedars" produced in Preiļi, as well as "Čedars" cheese ice cream and a movie about the company are offered by local home producers "Pampūkas" beach terrace cafe, located in the active part of the city - beach area of Preiļi Park (pre-registration by phone 25867735, runs from the second Sunday of May till the second Sunday of September). In Preiļi , next to A/S "Preiļu siers" factory (Daugavpils iela 75) is one of few monuments to cheese in the world – the only one of its kind in Latvia. There are only four monuments for cheese in the world, two of them located in France, and one in each - Canada and USA. Therefore Preili can safely be called the cheese capital of Latvia. |

This location produces alcoholic beverages, including vodka called “Red Cliff Water”, other vodkas, and liqueurs made of cranberries, lingonberries, blackberries, mountain-ash, sea buckthorn, as well as a special “Christmas balsam.” Tours are available with interesting stories about how the beverages are produced. |

The Centre at Sõru harbour exhibits various vessels, smaller wooden boats are built and renovated here too. The three-masted schooner Alar is awaiting restoration. Part of the Centre complex is the Sõru Museum giving an insight into local sea-going history; workshops on coastal life and seafaring can be booked in advance. |

From the historical and architectural perspective, this is an interesting monument to urban construction between the 17th and 19th centuries. Old Liepāja is in the area of the old market and Kuršu Square, where merchants sold their wares beginning in the 1560s. Until 1792, Kuršu Square was also where punishments were implemented. The current Pētertirgus pavilion was installed alongside the square in 1910. A map shows that the network of streets has partly preserved the chaos of street planning that was typical in Medieval towns. |

Older residents say that the guesthouse is located in the centre of the Domanti village. The guesthouse has four buildings built in accordance with ethnic architectural traditions, including a granary, a sauna and a traditional residence with two ends. |

Covered with rocks and with small capes and inlets, this is the eastern shore of the Bay of Rīga and the only place in Latvia where sandstone outcrops are found. These are the result of the abrasive effects of waves between Tūja and Vitrupe. Among the most distinguished of these outcrops are the Veczemi cliffs, which are less than half a kilometre long and up to four metres high. The area has been improved for tourists. It has to be said that this part of the shoreline changes very often, particularly after large storms.

The museum was established in 1954 and features the traditions of Latvian and Livonian fishermen, sailors and farmers and their lives and residences. There are fishermen’s homesteads with net huts, smokehouses, granaries, etc. There is a collection of fishing boats and the largest assemblage of anchors in the Baltic States (more than 100 anchors, the heaviest one weighing 22 tonnes). The windmill was transported from the Užava Parish. The 19th century Smiltnieki home features authentic household objects. The newest thing at the museum is the Lielirbe Baptist Prayer House, which is nearly 100 years old. A narrow-gauge railroad runs down the 1.3 km Mountain line from May 1 to October 31 every year, and at its end is its turntable. The building of the museum was designed on the basis of the Mazirbe train station. The museum is in the Jūrmala park, with playgrounds for children and the Anchor trail. |
