The origins of the castle that was built in the style of Classicism date back to 1784.  Later it was rebuilt into a two-story building with a portico with four columns at its centre.  A new period in the development of the state began in 1993, when restoration of the buildings began.  The estate currently houses a children’s village, while the mansion is now a hotel.

This restricted area is on the eastern shore of Lake Ķīšezers, and of the greatest importance here are the habitats – flood-land and other meadows, dunes, the aquatorium of Lake Ķīšezers, the shoreline, forests of oak, black alder and other trees, and many huge oak trees in the restricted area and beyond its borders. The Bulduri castle hill, which is the most distinct ancient castle hill in Rīga, is on the southern end of the Lieupsala peninsula. On the border of the restricted area is an affiliate of the Latvian Open-Air Ethnographic Museum, which is known as “Vārnas”.

The Lazdiņi farm is one of the most modern farms in Latvia, located in the Krimūni Parish in the north-western part of the Zemgale lowlands.  The farm focuses on grain farming (~1,100 ha), processing and storage.  Owner Juris Lazdiņš is the chairman of the largest non-governmental organisations in the field of agriculture, and by contacting him in advance, agriculture experts and future experts can go there to exchange experiences.  The farm is surrounded by the typical landscape of the Zemgale lowlands.

The museum is in the mansion of the Dole Estate, which was built in 1898 for the Loeuwis von Menar dynasty.  The collection presents Daugava as an important water route, with the apparel of Baltic and Liv tribes, everyday objects, etc.  Outside the movement is equipment to catch lampreys and a reconstructed weir to catch salmon.  Alongside is a 17th century cannon from the Duchy of Courland that was found in the Misa River and was cast in Baldone.  Nearby are four cannons from the Russian tsar’s army.  Those were found on a building lot in Salaspils in 2007.

Atrodas pie Kuldīgas pils dzirnavām, kur straujā Alekšupīte pirms ietekas Ventā izgrauzusi dziļu „kanjonu” dolomītā. The Strauti farm is on the eastern edge of hillocks in Embūte.  The southern edge of the farm neighbours large forests with many wild animals.  Alongside is a former fowl farm.  The farm breeds rabbits, sheep, fowl, two horses and a pony.  It has a herd of cows, including Latvian Blue cows.  The farm offers tours for schoolchildren and others.  Contact the farm in advance to purchase rabbit meat, wool and vegetables.  The farm is biological.

The Kubalu school was opened in 1843, and for 28 years it was the only school for the children of peasants at the Dundaga Estate.  This is the oldest log schoolhouse in Latvia, with old benches, blackboards, ink and pens inside.  There are examples of texts written by schoolchildren in the 19th century.  There can be a few lessons that are learned at such an old school.  In the attic is an exhibition featuring the teacher and writer E. Dinsbergs, and they speak to the experiences of the long life of that man.  A restored ancillary building offers an exhibition about the history of the school, along with a collection of ethnographic objects.  Trails on the estate mark out the way in which the land was once used.  Visitors are welcome to examine the landscape and rest a bit, as well.

A shop and café, located in the fish market in Ragaciems, offers dried meats, meat and snack platters, and other culinary delicacies made from home-made products. The Aknīste Catholic Church was built between 1937 and 1940, and its design is based on the Kaunas Church of the Resurrection in Lithuanian. The building features the rectangular and geometric forms that were typical of the age of Functionalism. Inside is a large wooden altar, along with a pulpit and two side altars (from the early 19th century) which were once found at the Rokišķi church. They were brought to the Aknīste church when the one in Rokišķi was redesigned. In 1997 the church was granted the Blue Flag of European cultural heritage. Alongside the church are the red brick gates of an old Catholic church, which date back to the latter half of the 19th century. Also there is the Selonian Park.

The Radžu stone is located to the South of Jēkabpils and at the north-eastern part of the Radžu sand and gravel quarry (the Radžu reservoir). The stone is the second largest rock in Latvia with a size of nearly 100 m3. At one edge of the quarry is the Jēkabpils Forest Park, which is popular among residents and their guests for leisure, hiking and sports. The beach of the reservoir was granted the Blue Flag in 2012.
