This route passes along one of the most diverse and beautiful parts of the coastline of the Bay of Rīga. You will see the Randu meadows, which are known as Latvia’s open-air “herbarium” because of the diversity of plants that can be found there. The coast features various sizes of rocks and stones, as well as no shortage of lovely and sandy beaches. This is the only place in Latvia where Devonian sandstone cliffs can be seen. Past each horn there is a different landscape, and the last 20 kilometres of the route are paradise for bird watchers during migration season. The route is in the Northern Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve. The museum set up in 1982 presents life and activity of the region from the late 19th C to the recent past. Temporary exhibitions are held in the barn and more than 200 species of trees and shrubs can be viewed in the parkland extending over 17 ha. Themed events include baking bread, celebrations of folk holidays are frequently arranged. From the museum visitors can access Velise cultural and natural heritage trail. |

This is the highest point in the Latgale highlands (289 metres above sea level), opening up a narrow but lovely view of Lake Rāzna and the massive forests of the highlands. You really should visit this hill when the sun is setting beautifully!

This is basically a grain farm, but in 2006 it also began to work as a dairy farm. In 2008, the farm began to produce cheese and cottage cheese. The farm has more than 200 dairy cows, using the milk to produce milk, yogurt, cheese and ice cream. |

This is a comparatively large lake (3 km long and 1.3 km wide). It is shallow (no more than 1.1 m deep) and is classified as a seashore lake. The Vecslocene River flows through it. At the southern end, there is a narrow stream which connects Lake Sloka with Aklo Lake – a shallow and small lake with a dolomite bed at some locations. The best view of Lake Sloka can be seen from the bird watching tower on its north-western shore. This is the only floating bird watching tower in Latvia. Alongside it is the beginning of the 3 km Lake Sloka hiking trail, which passes through the flooded wetlands of the lower reaches of the Vēršupīte. An information stand can be found on the shore of Lake Sloka by the car park. Beyond it is a sulphurous spring. |

The mansion of the Gārsene Estate is built in the Neo-Gothic style, and its design was based on a villa in Germany. The building was erected between 1856 and 1860, and from then until 1920, the baronial dynasty of the Budbergs and Beningshausens owned it. The castle was expanded with another wing in 1885. Between 1939 and 1940, the building was rebuilt to become a school, and President Kārlis Ulmanis attended its opening on June 2, 1940, when he was taking his last official trip as the country’s president. There are other buildings and a park on the estate. The mansion today is home to the Gārsene Elementary School, but there is also an exhibition featuring the baronial dynasty, the history of the school, and the town itself. Just wait until you see the pot-bellied stoves! Outside the mansion are the Gārsene nature trails – the cultural and historical trail, the baronial strolling trail, etc. Before setting off, buy a ticket at the mansion. In front of the mansion is a memorial stone to Professor Pēteris Kulitāns (1878-1951), who was an agro-chemist. |

This is a sandstone cliff with several arches, pillars and niches. The set of caves (Little Hell, Devil’s Kiln, Devil’s Cave, Liepmuiža Cave and Liepa Cave) are a bit more than 20 m, with a ceiling height of 3.5 m and a width of 5 m. A powerful stream flows from the cave, which is thought to have been formed around 7,000 years ago. The cave is much damaged, because white sand was dug from it in the early 20th century. Great Ellīte is an ancient cult site. Today the site has been much improved. |

Viens no lielākajiem cilvēka veidotajiem Latvijasparkiem (70 ha), kas izstiepies no Liepājas ostas līdz Dienvidu fortam > 3 km garumā. Tā izveidi uzsāka jau 1870. g. pēc pilsētas mēra K. Ūliha iniciatīvas, uzbūvējot kūrmāju un strūklaku. 19. - 20. gs. mijā ap Dzintaru un Liepu ielām parādījās greznu villu un savrupmāju apbūve. Viena no skaistākajām ir jūgendstilā celtā savrupmāja Liepu ielā 27, kurā atrodas Krievijas ģenerālkonsultāts. Ēkai ir slēgta uzeja, balkoni, pildrežģa konstrukcijas un kārniņu jumts (arhitekti G. Jenike un P. M. Berči). Jūrmalas parks visās sezonās ir iecienīta pastaigu un dažādu aktivitāšu norises vieta. Te meklējams stadions „Daugava”, tenisa korti, koncertestrāde “Pūt, vējiņi!”, vasaras kafejnīcas, minigolfa laukums, bērnu rotaļu laukums, skeitparks. Šeit meklējamas lielākās Latvijas bungas – vides dizaina objekts. |
