A very impressive ensemble that is in terrible shape.  The estate dates back to the 18^th and 19^th century, with the castle being built in the early 19^th century.  Half a century later it was rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style with symmetrical towers and bricks in the cornices.  The estate belonged to the Manteufel-Stzege dynasty.  The vestibule, stairwell and second floor hall still have ornamental ceiling paintings, but visitors are not allowed to enter the building, so they cannot be seen.  Valuable interior design elements include a fireplace from the early 19^th century that is decorated with marble elements.  After the expropriation of the castle in 1920 and until 1951, the building housed a forestry school and then an agricultural crafts school.  Opposite the castle was the stable of the state that was built in the style of Classicism with a pediment and mighty columns.  Built in the early 19^th century, the stable is no longer used and can only be viewed from the outside.  A very much overgrown park surrounds the complex, and the hillock is the grave of one of the baron’s dogs.

The restaurant is at the seaside and in an ancient Latvian fishing farm with the view of the beach. Live music is performed during the season.

Latvian cuisine: Potato salad with sausage, cold soup, grey peas with bacon, blood sausage, boiled pig’s ear, leg of pork with sauerkraut, pork roasted on coals, bull testicles, potted beef.

Iepazīstina ar Somā nacionālā parka lielākā purva – Kureso (Kuresoo) ziemeļaustrumu daļu, kur redzamas purva ezeriņu un lāmu ainavas. Takas sākumā atrodas igauņu komponista, ērģelnieka un folkloras vācēja Marta Sāra (Mart Saar) (1882. – 1963.) dzimtās mājas. To apkaimē pļavas apsaimnieko aitas. Lokveida takas garums ir 4,2 km.

The farm produces tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, grey peas, herbs, pumpkins and cabbages, and it also has a group of chickens which spend their time outdoors. The farm’s products are available for purchase.

The café serves freshly prepared home-cooked food. "Cafe 21 & Putnu Dārzs" rents out rooms for banquets, celebrations, meals, buffets and seminars. Provides food delivery and off-site service.

The saloon is on the edge of the Rīga-Daugavpils road (A6), works with local fishermen, and grows herbs and greens in its own garden.

Latvian cuisine: Cold soup, sorrel soup, chanterelle, soup, potato pancakes, filet of Daugava catfish, bream or pike-perch.

Further on enjoy beautiful Milk Manor where you could experience lavish spa treatments based on milk. There is also Milk Museum located where you can follow the milk route from a cow to the tables, also possible to try some old fashioned practical jobs like butter making. Further on the tour turns sweet. Visit candy factory in Saldus where traditional hand-made toffees are made. Then on menu is ice-cream at Druva. Next - sightseeing at Jelgava which used to be the main seat of the Duke of Courland. Visit cheese producer at Eleja and before returning to Riga visit splendid Rundale Palace which is regarded as a beautiful pearl of the Baltics.

Directly by the sea, only 20 minutes’ drive from Pärnu, is the Captain's House (Kapteni talu), where the captain's freshly caught fish is turned into delicious fish dishes that can be bought or tasted in the Captain's Summer Café.
