This is a unique open-air museum in South Estonia with displays on farming and school life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its 5 ha grounds comprise a school, a court and a poorhouse with outbuildings, a communal granary, dwelling houses, and a Dutch windmill. Farm tools and machinery are also displayed.

The distinguished Latvian author an painter Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš (1877-1962) spent six years of his childhood at Riekstiņi in Nereta.  He was born into a servant family and moved to Riekstiņi together with his mother after his father passed away.  The household inspired him for his "White Book."  In honour of Jaunsudrabiņš, a museum was opened at Riekstiņi in 1967, and it is in an authentic Selonian farm with its spirit and aromas.  You can tour the residential building and the homestead's granary and wheelhouse, also houshold building from 1820.  The apple orchard has trees that are 100 years old and older.  Nearby is the Ķišķi cemetery (on the side of the Vecumnieki-Ilūkste road), where members of the Jaunsudrabiņš family were interred and Jānis Jaunsudrabiņš was reburied in 1997.  The Nereta Administrative District still has many single family farms and place names which Jaunsudrabiņš mentioned in his books. 

Ilmārs Vecelis takes part in the “Potter School” of the Latvian Cultural Fund and, therefore, uses ancient pottery methods that have been tested over the course of many centuries in Latgale. You can tour his workshop, attend the opening of the kiln, try your own hand at the craft, and commission and purchase finished ceramics products.

For the groups of gourmandes the owner offers to participiate in different culinary workshops (2-3 hours): „The sweet cake workshop”, „The untraditional seasonal vegetable foods workshop”, „Pizza workshop”, Preparing hemp butter”, etc. Those who don’t  wish to cook themselves are offered a lazy countryside dinner in combination with watching the farm, the grapes garden and talks about countryside life.

This is the only factory in Latvia that offers the full processing of wool, and it has been open since the late 19th century.  There is a workshop in Dundaga where woollen blankets and pillows are sewn.

You can take an individual trip through the mini-zoo or have a guide to accompany you. You will see 16 types of doves, a Vietnamese pigmy pigs, river rats, rabbits, chinchillas, goats, parrots, turtle doves, ducks, geese, chickens, pheasants, and other birds. Children will love feeding the animals and establishing contacts with them.

The Radžu stone is located to the South of Jēkabpils and at the north-eastern part of the Radžu sand and gravel quarry (the Radžu reservoir). The stone is the second largest rock in Latvia with a size of nearly 100 m³. At one edge of the quarry is the Jēkabpils Forest Park, which is popular among residents and their guests for leisure, hiking and sports. The beach of the reservoir was granted the Blue Flag in 2012.

Materials of archaeological excavations show that the Ogre river banks were inhabited by the Livs. Ogre as a larger populated area and a major resort developed after the construction of Riga-Daugavpils railway in 1861. Until the World War I about 300 cottages offered their services in Ogre, most of them were destroyed during the war. The next "major" event took place 1965 when one of the largest knitwear plants in Europe was built in Ogre, which was staffed by guest workers from Vietnam and countries. Today, Ogre has still not recovered its glory of a resort, but has become a rather exclusive site of mostly low-rise residential buildings.

The craftsmen's association unites 65 craftsmen from Rūjiena and its surroundings. Offers baking, jam cooking, cheese tying, jewelry making, leather goods, crochet and culinary master classes. Also offers "Made in Rūjiena" tastings (bread, smoked products, culinary products, jams, fresh juices, pumpkin products, seasonal berries and fruits, other dishes in each season) and shopping.
