Lakeside Sigulda is a quiet camping and recreation area on the territory of Lake Matinu. Offers relaxation, overnight stays near nature and picnic options in a quiet environment. Travelers with campers, caravans, as well as those staying in tents can stay overnight in the camping area. In addition, a well-equipped glamping tent for 2 people has also been created. Showers, toilets, outdoor kitchen, picnic areas, grills, internet and electricity connection are available for camping guests.

The key treasure in this park is that it has a lake that is one of the most intensive sites for birdwatchers in all of Latvia. It also features outstanding flora and the shallow waters of the Bay of Rīga. Recommended: Hike along the seashore from Mērsrags to Engure (20 km). See wild domestic animals (horses and cows) on the eastern shore of Lake Engure. There’s a bird-watching tower on the NW shore of the lake (approach from Kūļciems, where you can see domestic animals adapted to life in the wild, including the Blue Cows of Latvia). Laimonis and Ilga Veidemanis lived in Roja 20 or 30 years ago.  They were deaf and loved to produce models of sailing ships of various sizes.  This was based on a dream about the big ships of their ancestors and the wide seas upon which the couple could not sail.  The models are very precise, designed with much care and love.  The couple never learned the secrets of ship models, but their collection has been inherited by Laimonis’ granddaughter, who wants to display the wonderful collection and her grandfather’s careful work to the public.  The hostess welcomes visitors and tells her story about how the models were produced. (Source: Roja TIC)

A third-generation family company, producing “Gotiņa” sweets since 1959. Located in the centre of Skrīveri, a 2-minute walk away from the train station. Company has a Sweets Workshop where visitors can take a tour, wrap their own candies, learn about their history, taste the products, and purchase natural and fresh sweets. For “Gotiņa” sweets with rye bread and cranberries, they use heated rye breadcrumbs from the Lāči bakery. Fresh and delicious sweets can be purchased in the factory shop.There are four different tour programmes in all.

The palace was built as the summer residence of the duke of Courland, Ernst Johan Byron, and it was designed by the outstanding Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli. The construction of the palace ensemble took place between 1736 and 1740. The decorative finishing of the interiors was carried out from 1765 to 1768 by the sculptor Johann Michael Graff and the painters Francesco Martini and Carlo Zucchi. The significance of the palace lies in its authenticity as it has not been modified through rebuilding since then. Intensive restoration works started in 1972 when the Rundāle Palace museum was established. The restoration was completed in 2018.
