Kulnevskaya (Ilzeskalns) Orthodox Church was built in 1832 by Kulnevs, the landlord of Ilzenberg
(Ilzeskalns) manor house. He was also the brother of Jacob Kulnevs. The Church has an iconostasis with
icons of the 19th century. The rectangular building has semicircular niches at its sides. The members of Kulnevs
family are buried here. The place of tomb is a rare phenomenon in Orthodox churches of Latvia.

The Ungurmuiža park is well known for its outstanding and huge oak trees. Some of them are rotting or dead, and they are home to a great many species, including many that are found nowhere else in Europe. A pathway leads through these noble trees – 1.3km in length, with visitors spending as much as an hour there. The park also contains the only wooden castle from the early 18th century that has been preserved to the present day. There are other cultural and historical treasures, as well.

The impressive Gauja River valley and its best natural and cultural landscapes can be seen from Paradīze (Gleznotāji) Hill, the Sigulda castle ruins, the aerial tram, the Ferris wheel, the Ziediņi and Pilsēta ski trails, the area of the bobsled and sledding trail, Ķeizarskats, the viewing area of the Velnala cliffs, the mountain bike route of Sigulda (on the right bank of the Gauja, particularly when the trees are bare), the area of the Krimulda castle ruins, Dainu Hill, and the Turaida castle tower.

The Nereta Lutheran Church is in the centre of Nereta at Rīgas Street 2. The Baroque church features elements of the late Gothic period, and it is seen as one of the oldest churches in Zemgale. It was built between 1584 and 1893 at the initiative of Count Wilhelm von Effern and rebuilt in 1679. There are gravestone reliefs in the church dedicated to Wilhelm and Georg von Effern which date back to the late 16th century. The gravestone for Georg Effern is the most distinguished artwork in the style of early Nordic Mannerism in Latvia. The altar painting was painted in 1863 by P. Handler. The organ was built by R. Knauff in 1893, and the stained glass windows were produced by E. Baiermann in 1900. The chandeliers on the ceiling date back to the 17th and 19th centuries. Visitors can view Nereta and its surroundings from the unique eight-corner tower of the church, which is 38.6 m high. |

The “Strand” Complex – it was the largest and most luxurious recreational complex in Neibāde. It consisted of three buildings, a dance pavilion and a park. Only one building of the hotel, the same as what was once Saulkrasti outpatient clinic at 17 Ainažu Street, has survived until nowadays. |

AS Agrofirma Tērvete is the largest multi-sector farming company in Latvia, operating in crop farming, dairy farming, horse breeding, public dining, biogas manufacturing and brewing of beer. Visitors can tour a brewery and the farm. The brewery produces popular Tērvete beer and kvass. Visitors can taste the products and take a small tour of the facilities. All of the types of beer can be tasted with delicious snacks. The Tērces farm is a dairy farm with modern technologies and 3,000 dairy cows. Находится за Гробиньским водохранилищем на берегу реки Аланде (ул. Пиладжу, д. 3). Туристический клуб «Ога» с 1 мая 2013 года планирует здесь организацию разных связанных с жизнью викингов мероприятий, во время которых можно будет войти в образ викинга, отправиться в поход на корабле викингов (в соответствующей одежде) по реке Аланде, а также познакомиться с окрестностями, которые связаны с тематикой викингов. This part of the Forest Trail passes through the historical centre of Valmiera. In Valmiera you can visit St. Simon’s Church, the Ruins of the Livonian Order Castle and Valmiera Museum. We also suggest walking the barefoot trail in “Sajūtu Parks” (Park of Senses). After sightseeing in Valmiera, the Forest Trail goes through Atpūtas (Recreation) park, the beautiful pine forest and Baiļi winter ski centre. Further on you will walk along the River Abuls Trail, curving along the banks of the river until reaching the Brenguļi brewery built in an old Hydroelectric power plant. You can enjoy unfiltered and unpasteurised beer here. Further down you will enter unpopulated forest areas and the Northern Gauja protected landscape area. The forests in Northern Gauja (“Ziemeļgauja”) are very diverse. There are old or natural boreal (northern) forests and marsh forests, oak forests, alluvial forests (formed on river sediments which periodically flood) and mixed oak, wych elm and ash forests along the river. The tour will end in Strenči Town. |

One of the most distinct sub-glacial depressions in Latvia, with 11 lakes of various sizes and depths. This is a magnificently lovely territory, with particularly good views from the Drusku castle hill. On a clear day, one can even see the Hanja highlands of Estonia. The restricted territory was set up to protect boreal and hillside forests I the area.

Here you will learn about home-based manufacturers, farms, companies and others in Latgale that produce various dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, ice cream, etc. Start in Preiļi, which is known as Latvia’s cheese capital. The route passes along the Teiči nature reserve, with a viewing tower at the side of the road, also crossing Lubāna wetlands, which are of European importance for environmental protection. Drive on to Rēzekne (churches, a monument to Māra of Latgale, “Gors,” “Zeimuļš”, etc.). Nature lovers will love the Rāzna National Park with Lake Rāzna, Mākoņkalns hill and the master ceramicist Evalds Vasiļevskis. From Dagda, head to Aglona, which is a centre for Roman Catholic worshippers, and Lake Rušons before returning to your starting point. |

Molu (sākotnēji – pāļu rindas ar akmeņu krāvumiem) izbūve pie Sakas ietekas jūrā tika uzsākta 1878. gadā, lai nodrošinātu ostas darbību. 1929. gadā notiek molu pārbūve, pagarinot tos ar masīviem betona blokiem. Pēdējā rekonstrukcija notika 2010. gadā, pārveidojot molus par ērtu pastaigu un makšķerēšanas vietu, no kuras var vērot arī saulrietu. |

As you travel from Kandava to Sabile, you will find a parking lot on the right side of the road. From there, there are steps to a viewing area on the highest hill in the Abava Ancient River Valley – Greiļi Hill. This offers a wonderful view of the ancient river valley and the local mosaic of meadows and forests. The landscape is enriched by the Imula and Amula valleys that are on the other side of the ancient river valley.

It is possible to participate in farming tasks and try out farm instruments, to learn the steps of ancient dances, to walk along the animal paths and to taste pancakes baked on the open fire with goat cheese.
