This park is in a region of hillocks in the Karula highlands, and Lake Ähijärve is at its centre. The park offers a cultural environment of small farms, and it was set up to protect the unique cupola-shaped hillocks of the area. Professional agricultural tour with visits to local farms typical of the region. We will meet and greet you in Vilnius and have a city sightseeing tour. Next day we go to Kaunas, for professional meetings and sightseeing of the city. On the way to Riga, we visit picturesque Trakai Castle situated on a lake. At Panevezys we have a visit to a professional apple grower. In Riga we have an Old Town sightseeing tour as well as a visit to the impressive Central Market. In Bauska we have a professional visit to a farm specilaizing in implementing innovative farming (grains, vegetables, potatoes). From Riga on the way to Tallinn, we visit Sigulda town and medieval Turaida Castle with great panoramic views to the ancient Gauja Valley. In Tallinn we have an Old Town tour through narrow cobbled streets followed by a professional visit to a dairy farm in Saku, meeting with the Estonian Farm Union and visiting another cattle and crop farm near Tallinn. |

The classical skyline of Old Rīga can be enjoyed from several locations – Mūkusalas Street, between the railroad bridge and the stone bridge, from the stone bridge, from the A-B dam, from the grounds of the central office of the Swedbank bank, from the Vanšu bridge, and from the Ballast Dam at Ķīpsala. You can hike or bike from location to location. During the summer, little ships cruise up and down the Daugava to offer different views.

This small restricted area protects the Swedish juniper and the lime meadows in which it grows. There is a marked circular trail which allows visitors to study one of the few but excellent stands of juniper in Latvia. The bushes are 50 to 70 years old, and all around them are interesting habitats, plants and animals. Natural stands of juniper in the Baltic States are the result of farm work such as reaping, chopping, etc., as well as of herding of sheep and other livestock. A small part of the area is still “managed” by sheep. Unfortunately many junipers have died because of overgrowing of territory. |

The Slītere National Park (established in 2000) is known, with good reason, as an open-air museum which shows the historical development of the Baltic Sea. Nowadays evidence of geological events is seen in the Blue Hills of Slītere, which stand 20 to 30 metres high above what was the shore of the Baltic lake of ice 10,000 years ago. The Stiebri hills were former 8,000 or 9,000 years ago, while the Littorina Sea formed Europe’s largest set of dune ramparts and damp hollows between those ramparts. This occurred between 4,000 and 7,000 years ago. The gentle climate of Northern Kurzeme is the reason why so many rare plants are found in the park – some 860 in all including Common Yew (Taxus baccata) and Baltic Ivy (Hedera helix var. baltica). Of certain value in the preservation of these treasures was the Soviet military machine, which has left behind army bases and other military objects in the area. The presence of the military meant that the area of what is now the Slītere National Park remained largely undisturbed for 50 years. The park includes one of the most popular tourist destinations in Latvia – the Cape of Kolka, which is visited by more than 50,000 travellers each year. During the spring migration of birds, more than 60,000 birds cross the cape each hour. Along the shore of the Baltic Sea is the so-called Livonian coast, which stretches from Kolka to Sīkrags and Ovīši. Fishing villages and other cultural objects established by the world’s smallest ethnic minority, the Livonians, can be found here. Tourists will enjoy interesting four nature trails, bicycling routes, viewing tower, etc. The visitors centre is located at the Slītere lighthouse. Administration of National park is organising environmental education events on regular basis open to everyone. |

The National Selection Station at Stende was established in 1922 and is in the Lībaga Parish of the Talsi District – the Dižstende farm. The station conducts scientific work related to grain selection, cattle farming and other conventional and biological types of farming. Visitors can taste grain products that are produced at the facility.

The historical centre of Talsi, which is known as the town of nine hillocks. The historical construction around Baznīckalns hill, Lake Talsi and Lake Vilkmuiža mostly dates back to the 19th century. Lielā Street is particularly beautiful with its low-rise buildings (two or three floors and ridged roofs). There are beautiful views from the area around Lake Talsi and Ķēniņkalns hill. |

Tagad šeit aplūkojams rakstnieces memoriālais muzejs. No „Sprīdīšiem” var uzsākt garāku pastaigu pa Tērvetes dabas parku, kur izvietoti no koka darinātie A. Brigaderes pasaku varoņi. |

The Ķemeri National Park (est. 1997) covers wetlands, the shallow waters of the Bay of Rīga, overgrown seaside lakes, swamps, damp forests and wetland meadows. There are many important plants (including some 25% of those that are declared to be rare) and animals, including an area where the locations of nesting and migrating birds are protected. The park includes one of the largest swamps in Latvia – the Great Ķemeri Swamp. This is an important location for sulphurous waters and medicinal dunes, and back in history, that was the reason for the establishment of popular spas in Ķemeri.
