The aim of this territory is to regulate the natural and cultural landscapes of the upper reaches of the Daugava River valley, where there is a great deal of biological diversity. Nature trails have been installed in the park, as have bicycle routes. The river is good for boating in this area, too. The Curves of the Daugava nature park is part of the territory (see “Nature Parks”). |

The farm is in a lovely location on the shore of a local lake. It breeds sheep, goats, rabbits and fowl. You can you on a tour, and the kids can help to feed rabbits or take a look at spring lambs. If you are interested in learning how to shear sheep, you can do so here. |

This old brickmaking kiln is used to prepare clay that is used by many ceramics artists. The owners also produce handmade household and design objects. Tours are available with attractive stories and creative workshops. Individual orders are also accepted. |

This is one of the most visually expressive coastal defence batteries in Latvia. Why? Because most it has been fully or at least partly washed into the sea, creating a truly unusual landscape, particularly during stormy weather. This is an historical monument which is subject to the mighty power of Mother Nature. The battery can also be seen from the Northern breakwater of Liepāja. It’s worth hiking the four kilometres along the beach to the Northern Forts. Along the way, you can take a look at the No. 23 Coastal Defence Battery.

Conference and recreation center "Zvīguļi" is located in the territory of Gauja National Park, 10 km from Sigulda - with picturesque and untouched nature on one side and Sigulda highway (A2) on the other. From the inner courtyard there is a forest, from which, walking along a relief, nature-created and well-groomed path, you will reach the bank of the river Gauja in 15 minutes. It offers accommodation in rooms of different comfort or in a common room. There is a spacious and modern kitchen. The guest house also has a quadruple Finnish sauna. This is an area that is full of legend and tale. There is a stiff hillock, which stands about 66 metres above the surrounding land. From its southern side, you can see the Burtnieki lowlands. The tower, however, is not open to the public.

National partisans commanded by Rihards Pārups were very active during World War II between Vietalva and Jaunkalsnava. The team was disbanded in 1946. The dugout is at a location that is hard to find and access. It is in the nature reserve of the Veseta Wetlands Swamp. The wood pathway that leads from the East is often hidden by reeds during the summer. During the fierce winter of 2010, the roof of the dugout collapsed, but local enthusiasts plan to reconstruct it. Alongside the dugout is a white cross inscribed with the names of the partisans who lost their lives here.

This is the highest point in the Latgale highlands (289 metres above sea level), opening up a narrow but lovely view of Lake Rāzna and the massive forests of the highlands. You really should visit this hill when the sun is setting beautifully!

The Lake Lubāns, wetland of Lubāns. Lubāns (80.7 km2) is the largest lake in Latvia and the most popular
lake and wetland in Europe. The lake and the wetland has biodiversity; a unique place not only in Latvia,
but also internationally. Nature Reserve is included in the European Union network of protected areas and
NATURA 2000 under the Ramsar Convention criteria as the wetland of international importance. Lubāns wetland,
called marshy meadows, includes bogs, wet meadows and wet forests. In autumn and spring the lake
attracts thousands of migratory waterfowl which is easily to wach from the bird observation towers or the terrace
of water tourism development center.

The restaurant is in the Grand Hall of the restored Liepupe Estate. Ancient cooking traditions are merged with modern culinary methods. The restaurant works with local farmers and grows greens and herbs in its own garden. Guests are welcome to help with preparing foods on a wood-fired stove in the antique kitchen. At the end of the Pakri peninsula is the most visually impressive shoreline cliff in the Baltic States – the Pakri cliff (Pakri pank), which is as much as 24 metres high. During cold winters, streams which flow from the layers of limestone cliffs form fantastic and unusual shapes of ice.

Tahkuna lighthouse is on Tahkuna peninsula in the north of the island. It was built from French cast iron parts in 1875 and is the highest in Estonia at 43 m above sea level. |
