This arboretum was established in 1996, when dendrologists Raimonds Cinovskis and Ināra Bondare joined with the local government in Rucava in experimenting with plants on the Rucava castle hill. The first plants were planted in 1998, and ever since then the collection has been expanded in the town centre and outside the Rucava Elementary School. Each year new and exotic plants are brought in from all around the world. A traditional garden festival is held each year in May, when rhododendrons and magnolias are in full bloom. |

A legendary location which is said to have
been the site of a lake which, in 1838, was poured into the sea. When the
water was gone, remnants of ancient tree stumps and ships were found at
the bottom of the lake.

In October 1948, nationalist partisans who opposed the Soviet regime built a 9x6 m bunker in the forests of Īle for themselves. Five months later, the KGB attacked the bunker. After five hours of gunfire, 15 partisans lay dead, and another nine were captured. The bunker has been restored in commemoration of this event, and it is open to visitors.

This homestead on the banks of the Rauna River breeds various kinds of fish. During the winter, you can fish for various salmon-type fish, and in the summer you can fish for sturgeon, blue-char, tilapia and trout. The private museum of antiquities of Zigurds Safranovičš was founded in May 2010. The collection of the museum contains around 50 thousand objects, of which 99% of exhibits have been donated. The oldest and rarest, according to legend, 300-year-old item – Ernst Glick's refrigerator. The museum's surroundings are a large park of the former Baron Wulf's estate, where it is currently possible to spend the night in tents, as well as available rest areas - canopies, fire places, grills, utensils for cooking, etc., drinking water (from a well), available electricity for telephones, cameras, etc. for charging. For larger groups (starting from 10 people), porridge cooked on the fire. |

The first part of this section of the Forest Trail winds along the magnificent River Piusa valley, then, at Härmä Village, it turns towards Obinitsa, an important cultural centre of Setomaa, the Land of Setos. Here you can discover the traditions of the local Seto people, for example the fine handicraft of the Seto women. After Obinitsa, the Forest Trail leads through beautiful pine forests rich in heather, descends back into the depths of the River Piusa valley and ends at the Piusa caves. The Piusa sandstone caves are the result of hand-mining glass sand from 1922-1966. The biggest wintering colony of bats in Eastern Europe is located in the caves. When accompanied by the guide, you can visit the observation platform at the Museum cave. |

The Museum of Francis Trasuns „Kolnasāta”. The museum of the promoter of Latgalian revival,
prominent cultural worker, pastor and politician F. Trasuns (1864 – 1926) was established in his house „Kolnasāta”. There is also an exposition about Jānis Klīdzējs; a collection of old household items. „Kolnasāta”
is the place of many cultural events in Latgale.

Atrodas skaistā vietā – Elernes loka ziemeļdaļā, Daugavas senielejas malā. Mūsdienās redzamais dievnams celts no tēstiem laukakmeņiem iepriekšējo vietā laikā no 1934. - 1961. gadam. Pēc baznīcas uzcelšanas padomju vara tajā izvietoja klubu, tādēļ draudze baznīcu atguva tikai 1989. gadā. Šīs vietas agrākais nosaukums – Naujene (Novene) ir lietuviešu cilmes. Savukārt, Juzefovas vārds cēlies no vietējā muižnieka Juzefa (Jezupa) Šadurska. |
