The distance from Riga to Tallinn is more than 300 km and it takes approx. 5 hours by bus. Therefore we suggest stopping on the way for a brief excursion to a herb farm and lunch in a country pub. This stopover is approx. 1.5 hours’ drive from Riga, just at that point when one needs to stretch one’s legs and enjoy a change of scene. The visit will give an insight in rural life and it may surprise visitors to learn how well Latvians understand nature, knowing and using herbs for food, health and beauty. After the excursion, the group will have lunch in a country pub serving meals made from locally grown ingredients.

Līdz akmenim aizved (ir norādes) skaista taka, kas līkumo pa Rogāļu strauta izrauto gravu. Strauta kreisā krasta nogāzē, ~ 0,1 km pirms tā ietekas Daugavā, iegūlis 6,5 m garais, 4,6 m platais un līdz 3,7 m augstais Rogāļu akmens, kura tilpums ir novērtēts ap 40 m³. Blakus tam atrodas liela atlūza.

This is the only viewing platform of its kind. It is north of Pāvilosta, between the sea and Latvia’s largest gray dune. The second level of the platform offers a good view of the habitats which surround the dune, as well as the seashore and the largest seashore rock on the shores of the Baltic Sea – the Pāvilosta sea rock. You can also see the northern part of Pāvilosta. When it is windy outside, you’ll see kiteboard riders showing their tricks.

Маршрут с очень необычными видами! Седа – единственный город в Латвии, в котором сохранилась советская планировка середины прошлого века с центральной площадью и как лучи отходящими от нее улицами. Своего рода экзотику представляет архитектурный стиль жилых домов и общественных зданий. Болото Седас, в котором торф добывался еще во времена первой Латвийской Республики, является одной из крупнейших индустриально-природных территорий такого вида в Латвии и странах Балтии. Ранее выработанные торфяные поля частично затоплены и заросли камышом, сформировав великолепную среду гнездящимся водным птицам и мигрирующим птицам, использующих болото Седас как место отдыха. Добыча торфа продолжается и в наше время и, может быть, посчастливиться увидеть «маленький поезд с торфом».

Одни из самых крупнейших производителей продукции козоводства в Латвии. Разводят ~ 160 чистопородных коз (Альпийская, Англо-нубийская, Белая немецкая благородная) и домашних кабанов (для племенной работы). Экскурсия и участие в выпасе коз. Skaisto un mūsdienās atjaunoto zilā krāsojuma ēku Karaīmu ielas 5 malā sākotnēji (1810. g.) cēla Dominikāņu mūki. Kopš 1864. g. tajā 23 gadus saimniekoja policija, līdz 1887. g. te izvietoja pastu un telegrāfu. Šobrīd ēkā atrodas nacionālā parka administrācija.

Красивый, ухоженный и художественно обустроенный хутор находится в Яунпиебалгской волости. Хутор вписывается в окрестный пейзаж, старый хлев современно восстановлен и на его верхнем этаже обустроена мастерская и выставочный зал хозяйки – художницы по текстилю. Восстановлен и старый сруб, заново построена банька. Вдоль хутора течет река, на территории находится городище Тулеяс, которое является  охраняемым природным объектом государственного масштаба.

The cave, which is 45 m deep and up to 5.5 m wide is found on the right bank of the Strīķupe river, by the Cēsis-Lenči road. The cave and its nearby sandstone cliff have suffered much damage from local visitors, which is why the administrators of the national park limited access to the surrounding territory a few years ago. You can no longer approach the cave. This is a positive example of who an important geological monument and a protected biotope can be protected.

Гора Мицану-Киркас. Маленький замок в Приежукалне в 1792 году был преобразован в лютеранскую церковь. До сих пор гору называют „Кирха” (нем. Kirche – церковь). Пожилые люди говорят, что под церковью был построен большой подвал, в котором хранились драгоценности семьи Мантейфелей и церкви, в подвале находится семейный склеп Мантейфелей.

На ферме выращивают альпаков, лам, верблюдов, осликов, страусов, голландских козлят, шиншилл и кроликов. В присутствии хозяев животных можно покормить, погладить, сфотографироваться вместе с ними. Нижняя дорога – пустынная, опоясывающая лес и давнишняя дорога между Кошрагом и Думели, с которой связаны многие интересные факты: с мельницами Питрагупе, которые так ни разу и не мололи (еще заметны остатки насыпи), с паровым котлом какого-то аварийного корабля, используемым местным бароном для выгонки смолы, с бывшей дорогой для лошадей, пересекающей болото Бажу, с внушительным Думельским величавым камнем.

The main goal of the Vestiena protected landscape area is to protect the landscape values in the Vidzeme highlands. The protected area is in the middle of the Vidzeme highlands with the highest and most prominent relief, including Gaiziņkalns, the highest spot in the country. The many lakes found in the area - Viešūrs, Talejas, Kāls, Pulgosnis and others – not only add to the variety of the landscape, but also offer tourism and recreation options. The Vestiena protected landscape area encloses several other especially protected/Natura2000 sites – the Gaiziņkalna nature park, the island of the lake Kāla, the lake Ilziņa restricted natural area. Among the most interesting tourist attractions are the Vestiena estate, the Piekūnu wandering trails, the Gaiziņkalna nature trail. The area is rich in landscapes, however, there are no viewing spots or towers installed to observe the landscape. On the top of the Gaiziņkalns, the Latvia’s highest spot, there still stands the wreck of the former viewing tower.

The Baltic Coastal Hiking Route leads around the Pakri Peninsula, from whose rocky shores you will discover the most beautiful coastal landscapes in northwest Estonia. It goes through the centre of Paldiski and, after having reached the fortress bastions of Peter I, it turns towards the Pakri Lighthouse going across the upper part of the impressive Pakri Cliffs. Further on up to Kersalu, there are both ups in the shape of rocks and downs where the Baltic Coastal Hiking Route meanders along a sandy and rocky seacoast and a beautiful pine forest.

Die erste katholische Kirche auf dem Kirchberg von Ludza war 1687 gebaut worden, diese fiel jedoch einem Brand zum Opfer. 1738 wurde eine neue Holzkirche im Barockstil erbaut, wegen ihres prächtigen Interieurs wurde sie als schönstes hölzernes Gotteshaus Lettlands bezeichnet. Diese verbrannte im großen Stadtbrand von 1938. Der Bau der jetzigen wurde 1939 begonnen, vollkommen fertiggestellt und restauriert wurde sie jedoch erst Anfang der 90er Jahre des letzten Jahrhunderts.

The wooden tower was built and stands 28 metres high. It is at the top of the highest hillock of the Northern Courlandian Highlands – Kamparkalns Hill (175 metres above sea level). The tower offers one of the loveliest views in the region of the hillocks of Talsi. On a clear day, you can see all the way to the Bay of Rīga and Talsi.
