Mājas Siers Buki produces a range of cheeses using milk from its own cows. Cheeses: Smoked garlic cheese, Fresh caraway cheese, and Fresh cheese with dill and garlic.
The farm originally had no outlet for the milk produced by its own cows, which led to the idea of making cheese themselves, using recipes passed down from the owner’s mother. At first, the cheese was made only for family and friends, but over time, the cheesemakers gained experience and developed their skills, creating cheeses that have become much-loved by their customers.
Cheeses
A wide range of cheeses is available, including farmhouse cheese with various flavourings and Spanish-style cheese. The farm’s particular speciality is its smoked garlic cheese, a firm favourite among customers.
How the Cheese Is Made
The cheeses are made using recipes perfected by the owner’s mother and cherished through generations. The milk used in production is sourced from local dairy farmers.
Where to Buy
Cheeses can be purchased directly from the farm or ordered privately. The owners also regularly take part in events, fairs and farmers’ markets, where they sell their products in Ragana, Skulte, at the Kalnciema Quarter Market in Riga, and elsewhere in Latvia.
