On November 1, 10 and 14, we invited rural tourism entrepreneurs to participate in the project "Heritage of agricultural traditions in agro-tourism in Latvia and Lithuania" informative seminars on the inclusion of historical heritage in the rural tourism offer. At the seminars, Asnāte Ziemele, Chairwoman of the Board of the Latvian Rural Tourism Association "Lauku ceļotājs", presented the idea of the project and the fact that in every rural homestead you can find things or stories that would be interesting to tourists. Agris Dzenis, historian of the Kandava Museum, described what the heritage of agricultural traditions is, how buildings and tools in the countryside have changed over the years.
In turn, Juris Smaļinskis, a representative of "Lauku ceļotājas", shared examples of good practice in Latvia, where owners have exhibited a large collection of tools, demonstrated the beekeeping process, or allowed people to try out the hemp processing process.

The basis for this rural tourism offer will be farms that maintain inherited traditions in agriculture, fishing, crafts, food production and processing.
Product concept: farms open to visitors, interactive museums and collections, where tourists can learn about and experience the cultural heritage of agriculture, fishing and crafts in an engaging way through services: farm tours, excursions to farm museums and production facilities, showing agricultural processes from the beginnings to modern production, demonstrations and master classes, introducing the use of ancient heritage in modern times (fish smoking, bread, baking, pottery, etc.), interactive programs, tastings, farm shops where you can buy products and souvenirs. These farms will be linked in agritourism routes, marketing campaigns, promoting travel and longer stays in the Latvian and Lithuanian countryside.
