By bicycle on Saaremaa Island

Estonia (7 days, ~230 km)

This route offers an excellent way to tour Estonia's largest island- Saaremaa, which is something of a symbol for tourism in Estonia. The island features one of the most impressive meteor craters in Northern Europe, the Bishop's Castle of Kuressaare, Estonia's highest cliff wall, and many other interesting destinations.
Day 1/  Arrival in Kuressaare

Sightseeing of Kuressaare.
Overnight in the guest house (1 WC and shower for 2 rooms)
Day 2/ Kuressaare – Nasva – Tehumardi – Pilguse  (~43 km, ~50% gravel road)

Breakfast.
In the morning pick up the bicycles at the guest house.
Cycling tour: Kuressaare – Nasva – Tehumardi – Pilguse  (~43 km, ~50% gravel road)
Sightseeing en route:
  • Loode oak forest
  • Nice white sandy beach between Nasva – Järve
  • Riksulaht -  bird watching place
  • Pilguse  manor
Overnight in guest house.
Day 3/ Pilguse  -  Kihelkonna – Odalätsi - Pidula – Karujärve (~40 km, ~50% gravel road)

Breakfast.
Cycling tour: Pilguse  -  Kihelkonna – Odalätsi - Pidula – Karujärve (~40 km, ~50% gravel road)
Sightseeing en route:
  • Loona manor - centre of the Vilsandi National park
  • Kihelkonna church (13th cent)
  • Etnographic museum in Mihkli farmstead
  • Odelätsi springs with nature trail
  • coffee brake or rent a boat in the Pidula fish rearing
  • Pidula manor and park
  • swimming in the Karujärve lake (Bear lake)
Overnight in the village house (shared bathroom)

Day 4/ Karujärve - Pidula – Mustjala- Vohma - Panga  - Mestkula - Leisi (~ 59km, ~66% gravel road)

Breakfast.
Cycling tour: Karujärve - Pidula – Mustjala- Vohma - Panga  - Mestkula - Leisi (~ 59km, ~66% gravel road)
Sightseeing en route:
  • Mustjala church
  • Panga pank  - cliff – the highest lime stone cliff in Estonia, ~1.5 km long and ~20m high
Overnight in the guest house (shared bathroom).
There is a possibility to have a dinner in the cafe near to guest house.
Saaremaa
Day 5/ Leisi – Angla – Valjala – Laimjala – Koiguste  (~ 46km,  ~35% gravel road)

Breakfast.
Cycling tour: Leisi – Angla – Valjala – Laimjala – Koiguste  (~ 46km,  ~35% gravel road)
Sightseeing en route:
  • Angla Windmills
  • Karja church
  • Valjala church and Valjala hill fort
  • Laimjala  manor
Overnight in the guest house.
Kaali meteorīta krāteris
Day 6/ Koiguste – Sakla – Koljala - Kaali –  Kuressaare  (~45km, 99%~ asphalt)

Breakfast.
Cycling tour:  Koiguste – Sakla – Koljala - Kaali –  Kuressaare  (~45km, 99%~ asphalt)
Sightseeing en route:
  • Kõljala Manor
  • The Kaali metoerite craters
In the evening drop of the bicyclis in the guest house.
Overnight in the guest house.
