Mulgima or Mulgi is a cultural and historical region in the south of Estonia. The part of Viljandi county located south of the rivers Raudna and Tenasilma was considered to be region of Mulgimaa. In ancient times, Mulgi farmers were famous for their sharp minds and determination, which helped to buy land from German-Baltic nobles and become rich farmers. The icons of Mulgi culture - the dialect, the well-known men's long black jacket and the traditional Mulgi porridge - have survived to this day. |

Годом основания Даугавпилса считается 1275 год. Это время, когда магистр Ливонского ордена Эрнест фон Ратцебург на Науенском городище построил Динабургский замок. Неоднократно замок выдерживал литовские и русские нападения, пока в 1577 году не был захвачен русскими войсками под командованием Ивана Грозного. После этого события Динабург был восстановлен 17-ю километрами дальше на правом берегу реки, где сегодня расположен город Даугавпилс. В период с 1810 по 1833 год была построена новая крепость. В 1826 году началась застройка тогдашнего исторического центра. В годы Первой мировой войны важные промышленные предприятия вместе с работниками были эвакуированы в Россию. Во времена первой Латвийской республики наблюдается расцвет культурной жизни Даугавпилса. Большая часть города была уничтожена во время Второй мировой войны – в июле 1944 года. Современный Даугавпилс – это второй по величине город Латвии и важный экономический центр исторического Латгальского края. Недавно началось восстановление уникальной в Европейском масштабе Даугавпилсской крепости. |

Kolga Manor with its impressive territory, several buildings and antique feel will not leave you unmoved! Kolga Manor was first heard about in 13th century but the manor we see nowadays was built style of Baroque in 17 - 18th century but in 1820's it was re-built in the style of Classicism. From the end of 17th century until 20th century it was the biggest Estonian manor. Now in these buildings is a guesthouse, a restaurant, conference centre and a museum. It's possible to hire a guide. |

This is a segment of the shore of the Bay of Rīga that is around 40 km long and features the valleys of three major rivers – the Lielupe, Daugava and Gauja river. There are dune formations, biotopes, seashore meadows and forested seashore dunes which are an important recreational resource. |

This is one of the largest high-type swamps (6,192 ha) in Latvia, with very distinct landscapes of little lakes and hillocks. The Great Ķemeri Heath is of importance as an extensive hydrological system and preserver of the local microclimate. It is also of international importance as a site for birds, as well as a major source of sulphurous water. Along the Kalnciems-Kūdra road, which is on the eastern edge of the swamp (3.4 km from the Rīga-Ventspils highway), there is an information stand with information about the management of the heath and about the role of swamps in nature and in the lives of people. Great Ķemeri Heath wooden pathway trail is now restored and opened for visitors in 2013. |

It is rare type of lake in Latvia and there are only of few this type of lakes in Kurzeme region. The lake is characterized by high water limpidness (very attractive for tourists) and very rare plant species for Latvia. Nature park includes the lake, costal area and forest on the East from the lake, few smaller lakes and Sarlote Pond. There are several tourist accommodations located around the lake.

It is worth hiking this road where in crosses the Šlītere Blue Hills. This part of the road is approximately one kilometre long, and it goes down to the valley of the stream which crosses the hills. The place has been given a peculiar name – the Kušperlankgrāvis ravine (or the Zeltiņi ravine, as is claimed in other sources). If you're driving, be careful, because there is no bridge here, just a ford. During the early spring or the winter, you will appreciate the ravines and the impressive Blue Hills themselves. Impressive sandstone cliffs which are several metres high and have been vandalised by human hands are on both sides of the road. There is a small niche in one of the cliffs. To the right (East) from the road at the terrace of the Blue Hills is a side road which leads to the Mežlīdumi homestead. Please be gentle with the cliffs! |

This is one of the most beautiful and popular tourism locations in Vidzeme. The cliff is 45 metres high, and the height of the lovely open-faced portion is around 20 metres high. You can look at the wide and deep Amata River valley and its forested banks.
