In 2017, a design hotel was opened in Cesis, on the banks of the Gauja River. At the end of 19th century and at the beginning of 20th century Russian aristocrats built villas for summer recreation here. At present, six hectares of the territory are home to three villas (Villa Santa, Villa Ieva and Villa Carola) with a restaurant, a hall of TILTA HOUSE, an ancient apple garden and a restored wooden gazebo. The hotel has 30 rooms, with a light interior, with a touch of Scandinavian minimalism and Latvian bourgeoisie, preserving the aura of the summer cottage. |

Единственная в Северной Европе, сохранившаяся практически без изменений крепость первой половины XIX века. Строительство крепости началось в 1810 году. Незадолго после этого крепость пострадала от войны 1812 года и наводнения 1829 года. Крепость являлась стратегически важным местом, в т.ч. и в войне против армии Наполеона. Крепость освятили в 1833 году, а строительство закончили только в 1878 г. Даугавпилсская крепость разделена на кварталы, в центре которых находится Парадная площадь. В 1897 году крепость потеряла свое стратегическое значение, и в ней устроили склад. До Первой мировой войны в даугавпилсском гарнизоне служили генерал Янис Балодис, полковник Фридрих Бриедис и другие офицеры латвийской армии. В часть 100-летия войны 1812 года в парке крепости в 1912 году открыли памятник. В советское время здесь дислоцировались военные части, а также размещалась Высшая техническая авиационная школа. Здесь находится и жилой район, здания которого довольно запущены. В настоящее время фундаментально ведутся работы по реконструкции исторического здания крепости, водопровода и улиц, а также создается художественный центр Марка Ротко. |
