This was the first national park in Lithuania, and it is in the northern part of the Aukštaitija Higland, where hillocks interweave with lots of little lakes and ethnographic villages. Many of the lakes are connected with streams, forming long chains of lakes that are perfect for water tourists.

The “Dabas zirgi” centre for horse and human welfare is in the historical Mežinieku neighbourhood in suburban Rīga, and it will be a revelation to those who wish to have a sense of belonging related to Latvia and its environment. You’re welcome to spend a longer amount of time at this venue with new glamping opportunities in a lovely forested area next to the steep shores of the Misa River. В Гипке была основана первая мореходная школа в Курземе! Это было в 1869-м году, спустя несколько лет после основания мореходной школы в Айнажи. Это была мореходная школа 2-й категории, в которой готовили штурманов дальнего плавания и капитанов судов каботажного плавания. В 1894-м году мореходную школу перенесли в Мазирбе. До открытия мореходной школы в этом здании с 1860-го года действовала школа, а в 1867-м году специально для нужд мореходной школы в здании был надстроен второй этаж. Здание сохранилось до наших дней и переоборудовано под жилой дом. Школа (в Гипке и Мазирбе) на протяжении своего 28-и летнего существования выпустила более чем 200 профессиональных моряков и содействовала кораблестроению в прибрежных ливских поселках. В Рое можно посетить как песчаный пляж с благоустроенной инфраструктурой, так и каменистое взморье. На каменистом взморье находится Ройский морской валун примерно 2 м высотой и 12,5 м в обхвате. Для морского побережья характерно своеобразное очарование ландшафта с разбросанными камнями и неспешным течением времени. У впадения речки Силупите в море еще сейчас можно увидеть деревянные фрагменты старинной баржи и остатки железных гвоздей того времени. Начиная с 1939-го года Роя была «начальным» пунктом так называемой «закрытой зоны», где вплоть до 1993-го года находилась зона дислокации Советской армии и флота. В дюнах возле улицы Краста еще можно увидеть наследие советского времени. Здесь находится большая насыпь из бетона, с которой в свое время пограничники наблюдали за морем и ловили нарушителей границы. За дюнами находился полигон пограничников со всем необходимым. The Brasla River flows through a lovely valley that is approximately 300 m wide and up to 30 m deep. It is near the Inčukalns-Valka highway. The river has among the most beautiful rapids in the country, with mighty cliffs (the Brasla cliffs) that can be seen at nearly every curve in the river (except along the lowest reaches of the river). During the winter, various unusual frozen waterfalls can be seen in some of the cliffs, including the Krauļukalns cliff and the Jāņavārti cliff. On the left bank of the Brasla, opposite the Brasla fish farm, there are the Aņīte cliffs -- a series of sandstone cliffs that are 1 km long. The cliffs are between 2 and 35 m in height, and the sandstone cliffs are separated by ravines. On the right bank of the Brasla, there are major cliffs such as the Vāršavu cliff, the Kraukļukalns cliff, the Jāņavārti cliff, the Slūnu cliff, the Virtaka cliff and the Buļi cliff. How can you best learn about them? Boat down the river from the aforementioned highway or even from Straupe, which is further upstream. An alternative is hiking down the right bank of the river, though please take into account that the terrain is fairly extreme, and you are going to have to think about what to do when you arrive at the place where the Brasla River flows into the Gauja. |

Die Ausstellung ist in den rekonstruierten Schutzräumen der hölzernen Burg von Tērvete (12. Jh.) eingerichtet. Jährlich findet am zweiten Wochenende im August das Fest der Semgallen statt, das die größten, dem Frühmittelalter gewidmeten Festspiele in den baltischen Staaten sind. |

This is one of Estonia’s most beautiful karst fields, covering 125 hectares which feature different karst processes – subterranean streams, the dry Jõelähtme River bed, karst streams, funnels, ditches, caves, cliffs, a unique rock “mushroom,” etc. During the spring, the field is flooded, but at other times of the year, its contents are easily visible.

Dieses Territorium befindet sich im Norden von Skrunda und ist ein wichtiger Ort für Wasservögel wärend des Vogelzugs. Schwäne nisten in den Teichen und Seeadler und andere Vögel wie zum Beispiel Falken und Regenpfeifer nutzen sie als Futterplatz. Das ist ein günstiger Platz zur Vogelbeobachtung, wenn er auch nicht speziell dafür eingerichtet wurde.
