This study tour is designed to show Latvia's rye traditions as their central focus. This tour has been developed in cooperation with the Latvian Bakers’ Association. Rye is both the basis of the Latvian diet and a powerful symbol of Latvia's culture and culinary traditions. Itinerary emphasize traditional rye bread-baking and eating, as well as insights into the history of the rye grain from Latvia's earliest archaeological record to the present day. Itinerary include visits to working farms, grain mills and culturally and historically important locations. This study tour is designed for groups and may be adapted to the needs, interests and timeframe of each client. Tour cost includes meetings with experts, site visits and admissions, accommodations, specified meals, sightseeing, transportation within Latvia and guides-interpreters. |

These are beautiful and impressive views, particularly early in the morning, of the historical locations of Alūksne. Go to Templis Hill, the Aleksandrs Pavilion, the obelisk which commemorates Heinrich von Fittinghoff, and the memorial to soldiers of the No. 7 Sigulda Brigade for good views. The Templis Hill, the castle ruins, the estate and the pavilions are arhitectural monuments.

Находится в 0,1 м к югу от развалин Гробиньского замка, на правом берегу Гробиньского водохранилища. Гробиня является одним из древних заселенных мест Латвии, так как в период с VII по IX вв. (согласно другим источникам IV – Х вв.) здесь находилась крупная известная на территории теперешней Балтии скандинавская колония торговцев и воинов. Переселенцы-колонисты из Готланда и Швеции образовали колонию на холме правого берега судоходной в то время реки Аланде Скабаржкалнсе. Считается, что именно здесь находился упоминаемый в хрониках IX века куршский Юрпилс (Seeburg). Происхождение топонима (Скабаржкалнс) связывают с тем фактом, что в Курземе грабы в свое время назвали гробами. Скабаржкалнс - древнее городище куршей, рядом с которым найдены остатки древнего города. Исторические источники свидетельствуют о том, что в 1263 году замок куршей без боя был отдан рыцарям Ливонского ордена для сожжения. С противоположным берегом городище соединяет небольшая деревянная переправа. |

Takas sākuma punkts ir Amatas novada Ieriķos, 1 km no kafejnīcas, degvielas uzpildes stacijas, Cecīļu dabas takas apmeklētāju centra, blakus autoservisam. Apmeklētājiem ir iespēja izbaudīt cilvēka nepārveidotu dabas ainavu – Dančupītes kanjonu, minatūru ūdenskritumu, no Kumadas upes labā krasta aplūkot iespaidīgo Cecīļu iezi un citus objektus. Taka ir marķēta. |

One of the few pure stands of oak trees in Latvia, this one covers 19.6 ha, and it was declared to be a protected territory back in 1928. The oldest trees are 300 to 400 years old. The stand of trees can be found alongside the Ezernieki-Andzeļi road. There is a small car park, along with a hiking trail, an information stand, and a leisure area with a plank from which the northern bay and islands of Lake Ežezers can be seen very well. There are typical species of plants, mushrooms and insects here, but only a specialist will be able to recognise them. |

This is a part of Latvia in which various manifestations related to layers of earth made up of water-soluble lime can be found. The most unusual elements here are Lake Vecezers and Lake Linezers. The water of the latter lake has flowed underground several times over the last few decades, with the remaining lake hole as much as nine metres deep. No one can fully explain how this happens. A tourist trail encircles Lake Linezers.

В Докторате гостили многие известные работники латышской культуры, что оказало большое влияние на будущую писательницу. В 1997 году в здании была создана комната памяти, где писательница жила с 1898 по 1921 год. Посетители могут осмотреть разные экспонаты и увидеть фильм, посвященный столетию З. Маурини. |

Древнее поселение. В 30-е годы 20-го века здесь насчитывалось 50 дворов, а в 1990 году - всего 10. В Овиши родился ученый - энтомолог ливского происхождения Карлис Принцис (1893 - 1978), который в 1944 году эмигрировал в Швецию. Овишский маяк (1814) - старейший действующий маяк в Латвии - высотой 38 метров. С него открывается прекрасный вид. Сохранилось здание, построенное в 1905 году для рабочих маяка, в свое время в нем была обустроена станция узкоколейной железной дороги. В подсобном помещении был создан музей Овишского маяка. Рядом с маяком – металлический Аустрас кокс (дерево Аустры). Напротив Овишрагса - хорошее место для наблюдения за птицами. |

Жилое здание построено в начале XVIII в., а в середине XIX в. было перестроено. В самой усадьбе священника и в комплексе все еще ведутся восстановительные работы. С сентября 2009 года в комплексе имения священника работают три дома отдыха реколекционного центра Латвийской Евангелическо-лютеранской церкви. Рядом виднеются развалины старой конюшни. |

Башня высотой 368 метров является самой высокой телевизионной башней Европейского союза. Смотровая площадка (97 м) – самая высокая доступная публике точка обозрения в Латвии. С нее открывается фантастический вид на Ригу, Старый город до самой Пардаугавы, Рижского залива и до Сигулды в радиусе как минимум 50 км. |

The trip starts in Kuldīga – a jewel among the old towns in Kurzeme. The town centre is home to historic buildings dating back to the 17th – 19th century. Cobbled streets of Kuldīga, old buildings, the river Alekšupīte, running through the town, St. Catherine’s Church and organ music concerts in it, gourmet restaurants and a country delicatessen shop in the town centre is a great travel experience to enjoy in a leisurely ambience of a small town. The red-brick bridge over the river Venta is a landmark of the town. The widest waterfall of Europe, Ventas rumba (width ~100 m) lies on the Venta. Venta river promenade is a popular place for walking along the riverbank. A private transfer will take you from Kuldīga to the village of Snēpele, where you will start your hike. The trail will take you to the Pelči Manor, the manor park and the deer park next to the guest house “Mazsālijas”. Next, the Forest Trail will lead you through the Abava River Valley Nature Park up to the town of Sabile. The latter is home to a winery and cider house “Sabiles Sidra nams”, which offers tastings and sells the local wine and cider. The section along the Abava River Valley Nature Park is the most diverse in terms of landscape and terrain of a river valley in Kurzeme. The river valley with its numerous habitats and vast biodiversity reaches a depth of 30–40 m and is more than 300 m wide. One will find springs, waterfalls, rock outcrops, and boulders here. After the Forest Trail has meandered through meadows, oak forests and hillocks it finally reaches the town of Kandava. |

This restricted area is on the eastern shore of Lake Ķīšezers, and of the greatest importance here are the habitats – flood-land and other meadows, dunes, the aquatorium of Lake Ķīšezers, the shoreline, forests of oak, black alder and other trees, and many huge oak trees in the restricted area and beyond its borders. The Bulduri castle hill, which is the most distinct ancient castle hill in Rīga, is on the southern end of the Lieupsala peninsula. On the border of the restricted area is an affiliate of the Latvian Open-Air Ethnographic Museum, which is known as “Vārnas”.

This farm produces organic grains, and it has a bakery at which tasty rye bread, wheat-rye bread and croutons for bread yoghurt are produced. Bread can be purchased on site.
