The Krimulda Castle was built in the latter half of the 13th century. It was located where the right bank of the ancient Gauja River valley is split by the deep Vikmeste ravine. The castle was owned by the council of archbishops from Rīga, and it was an impressive structure with a large interior courtyard and a defensive wall that was 1.5 m thick. The Swedish military blew up the castle when retreating in 1601. Today the castle hill is forested, and only a small fragment of the castle wall can still be seen. It is near the ruins that you will find the Sigulda aerial tram and the Krimulda serpentine road – the only object of its kind in the Baltic States. |

This study tour is designed to show Latvia's rye traditions as their central focus. This tour has been developed in cooperation with the Latvian Bakers’ Association. Rye is both the basis of the Latvian diet and a powerful symbol of Latvia's culture and culinary traditions. Itinerary emphasize traditional rye bread-baking and eating, as well as insights into the history of the rye grain from Latvia's earliest archaeological record to the present day. Itinerary include visits to working farms, grain mills and culturally and historically important locations. This study tour is designed for groups and may be adapted to the needs, interests and timeframe of each client. Tour cost includes meetings with experts, site visits and admissions, accommodations, specified meals, sightseeing, transportation within Latvia and guides-interpreters. |

The Vijciems Hunting Castle building houses an elegant design guest house Bergervilla. Each room has an individually designed design, historic furniture and a special atmosphere. There are 4 rooms available - a standard room, a two-room suite and two deluxe rooms with a private balcony and a bathtub. Хозяин свое пчеловодческое хозяйство основал на красивом берегу озера, на месте старинного жилья, расположив пчелиные улья в двух местах – на приозерном холме и на красивом лесном лугу, который хозяин преобразовал сам. Рядом с пасекой находится красивый яблоневый сад, в котором осенью хозяин рад видеть помощников. С 1996 года хозяин понемногу обновлял и ухаживал за этим хозяйстом, в котором уже красивое широкое озеро, домик у озера, клеть с отремонтированным помещением над клетью и балконом, пасека и яблоневый сад. |

Продукцию можно приобрести в фирменном магазинчике (рядом с предприятием), где также можно купить сыры, произведенные партнерами по сотрудничеству – АО «Смилтенес пиенс», и ООО «Латвияс пиенс». Одно из пяти латвийский предприятий, которые имеют право производить традиционный продукт, включенный в схему «Гарантированной традиционной особенности» ЕС – сыр «Яню». This nature park covers an area of the Baltic Sea coast and part of newly established sea protected area "Nida - Pērkone" with sand dunes which once used to move around but have now settled. These are the highest dunes in Latvia. Visitors will enjoy the coastal landscape, sandy beaches and small fishing villages of the area. A nature trail has been established on Pūsēni Hill (one of the highest dunes in Latvia) for those who wish to tour the nature park. |

В северной части парка Засас находится построенная в 1750 году небольшая Засасская лютеранская церковь. В наши дни восстановлен церковный орган, являющийся работой знаменитого органного мастера Андрея Сунакслиса. Рядом с церковью находится кладбище немецких солдат, павших в Первой мировой войне. |

As you travel from Kandava to Sabile, you will find a parking lot on the right side of the road. From there, there are steps to a viewing area on the highest hill in the Abava Ancient River Valley – Greiļi Hill. This offers a wonderful view of the ancient river valley and the local mosaic of meadows and forests. The landscape is enriched by the Imula and Amula valleys that are on the other side of the ancient river valley.

В данное время пост береговой погранохраны не используется. На территории сохранился памятник, штаб пограничников и бывшие уборные с деревянными держателями для бумаги. Хороший общий вид пункта погранохраны открывается с высокого вала с южной части поста.

The Volkenberga Castle was built in the 13th century by the Livonian Order, and it was practically impregnable, as it was on top of Mākoņkalns hill. These were among the first fortifications in Latgale, and only fragments of the castle remain today. Architect Pēteris Blūms has said that this was a special type of fortification. Legends say that after the lord and lady of the castle died, the property was divided up among their three daughters – Roze, Lūcija and Marija. Each sister built a new castle on the land which she inherited – Roze built Rēzekne, Lūcija built Ludza, and Marija built Viļaka. A memorial plaque at the foot of Mākoņkalns hill recalls the visit which pre-war Latvian President Kārlis Ulmanis paid to Latgale in 1938. |
