A restricted area with a set of artificial ponds to the South-west of Saldus. The ponds attract many different kinds of birds during nesting and migration season. The location has not been improved for tourist purposes, but it is still an interesting place for some bird-watching. The forests around the ponds are also home to many protected birds and species of bat. |

Dagda is mentioned in the historical sources of 17th century as a trader village. In 1772, Dagda district was included the Pskov province, but in 1802 - Vitebsk province. In 1905 widespread peasant unrest took place here, during which many important architectural monuments were destroyed. Town was not spared also by the two world wars. What's to see for the tourist here? In the centre of Dagda historical buildings - houses, built of red brick - the so-called "Jewish tradesmen houses" are preserved. Dagda is the only place in the Latvia, where every year is celebrated Anne's Day in the town's park! |

This tour features the best trails and attractions within the Gauja National Park. The walks are organised so that travellers are constantly on the move. The main “artery” of the park is the ancient Gauja River valley with many tributaries and deep ravines with massive sandstone cliffs from the Devonian period. The walk starts from one of the oldest churches in Latvia and follows the river which finishes at Sigulda bobsled track. Scenic views of the river, cliffs and nature trails await in the next section. The Amata river trail winds through untouched forest and inlcudes an icon of the Latvian landscape - Zvartes rock. At Cēsis explore the little streets, climb the tower of St John's Church and visit medieval castle ruins before heading to Cirulisi nature trail to explore the area's geological history. Ungurmuiza Manor is the only remaining wooden baroque manor house in the Baltics. A short trail weaves through ancient oak trees. The park also features several sites of cultural importance: Turaida Museum Reserve, Krimulda Manor and Ligatne historic centre. |

This arboretum was established in 1996, when dendrologists Raimonds Cinovskis and Ināra Bondare joined with the local government in Rucava in experimenting with plants on the Rucava castle hill. The first plants were planted in 1998, and ever since then the collection has been expanded in the town centre and outside the Rucava Elementary School. Each year new and exotic plants are brought in from all around the world. A traditional garden festival is held each year in May, when rhododendrons and magnolias are in full bloom. |

Kirkas Hill in Micāni. In 1792, a small castle on the hill Priežukalns (Kirkas kalns) was rebuilt into
Lutheran Church. Nowadays, the hill still is called Kirkas kalns (in German „Kirche” means „church”).
Old people say – under the church there is a big cellar where the jewellery of church and the Mantefel
family is hidden; Manteifel family vault is there too.

The Wine Hill of Sabile has been known since the age of the Duchy of Courland as the northernmost place where grapes were grown to produce more or less sour wine for the duchy. A wine festival has been held each year during the latter half of July in Sabile since 1999. The hill offers an excellent view of the small town that is on the banks of the ancient Abava River Valley. |

From Riga the route goes to the historic Estonian sea resort and then by ferry to Muhu island. On the way there is ethnographic village of Koguva, the Liiva church and the elegant Padaste Manor. Overnight at Muhu island. 28 km cycling there juniper fields, its small fishing villages, and the magnificent Juigu cliffs, which open up a view of the other small islands in the Monzunda archipelago. Then drive to Saaremaa and stay in Kuressare, the island's capital. There the rooute covers such attractions as Kaali meteorite crater, impressive Valjala church and castle mound, Piretikivi rock and Poide church. Cycle along the Tagameisa Peninsula, up to 30 km. Driving to the ferry take a loop along Viidumae National Park with its viewing tower, Kihelkonna Church, the Odaletsi streams and nature trail and the dolomite Panga cliffs. |
