On this tour you will enjoy the diversity  of nature in Lahemaa National Park – the oldest national park in the Baltic states. Lahemaa – means “the land of bays” in Estonian. It is characterised by many bays, peninsulas, forests and villages rich in cultural heritage. The Forest Trail will go along the bays and peninsulas of Lahemaa National Park, introducing the hikers to its most significant natural and cultural heritage. The forests are rich with blueberries and mushrooms in autumn, and the air is very clean.

You will start the tour from Tallinn, going by bus to Lahemaa National Park, where you stay overnight in one of the beautiful manors. On the next day you will hike till Oandu. En route you will see Altja – a scenic traditional fishing village, where a traditional Estonian tavern is located and you can enjoy traditional meals. In Oandu there is the visitor centre of the Estonian State Forest Management (RMK), where hikers can learn more about forest habitat types and forest management traditions. Then you will reach Käsmu Peninsula with its wooded dunes and moss-covered rock fields, giving the feeling of being in a fairy tale. Käsmu is also a popular Estonian sea captains´ village. There you can visit the Marine Museum and lighthouse, as well as have an extra walk to the Vana-Jüri rocks.

During the day from Käsmu to Kasispea you will see some of the most impressive boulders in Lahemaa National Park, the Tammispea and Jaani-Tooma boulders, which resemble huge monoliths. You will end the tour in Viinistu Village, where we suggest visiting Viinistu Art Museum.

The open-air pizzeria not far from Valmiera in Beverina district. It is an opportunity to spend time in the countryside, relax and take part in making real Italian pizza, where everyone has a chance to make a pizza according to one’s taste, baking it on open fire in a wooden stove. Available clear water and Italian wine, coffee and tea. Apart from pizzas, it is possible to buy tiramisu, having ordered it beforehand.

The Rauna cheese factory is owned by Ceriņš family, and for the past 10 years it has offered high-quality and nutritious products to its consumers – cheese, butter and macaroni.  The most popular product is “Green cheese,” in which one of the main ingredients, fenugreek, grows in the factory’s garden.  Fenugreek is a perennial with five leaves and blue flowers.  While the new shoots are soft, they are dried in a wood-fired drying house.  Then the fenugreek is ground up, sieved and added to a mass of protein that is put in thin layers in special wooden boxes and allowed to dry.  After the fenugreek is added, the cheese gets its typical taste, colour and smell.  Groups of 10 or more can apply in advance for tours of the factory and learn about how the cheese is made.

Kalnbundas offer possibilities for active rest – horse-back riding and horse riding.  

The Bauska Nature Park runs for several dozen kilometres along the Lielupe River and its tributaries – the Mūsa and the Mēmele. This is a protected territory. The shores of these rivers contain some of the largest dolomite cliffs in Zemgale. These are protected both as biotopes and as geological monuments. The rivers are important places for river lampreys and vimbas to spawn. Tourists will be attracted by the cultural landscape of the area, as well as the cultural monuments such as the Bauska castle, the Jumpravmuiža park, the Mežotne castle hill, Vīna Hill, the Mežotne castle, etc. The rivers are used for water tourism.

This venue produces homemade fruit, berry and dandelion wine from local products and with no preservatives, as well as interesting products such as spicy plum sauce and fruit and berry conserves. Groups of tourists can go on a tour and taste and purchase the products.
