The job for the No. 15 Radio Technology Brigade at Saraiķi was to defend Soviet Latvia’s shoreline back in Soviet times. Today the facility is owned by the Defence Ministry, and the No. 17 Home Guard Battalion uses it for training purposes.

The monument is on the banks of the Daugava River opposite Kaļķu Street in Pļaviņas. The symbolic raft is made of logs and stones, and around it are informational stands with photographs that tell the story of the heavy work that rafters on the Daugava once did in terms of overcoming the rapids of the river. |

Origins of Livani as a bigger place of population are linked to the 1533, when the then owner of the land Lieven established the manor and called it after his own name Lievenhof. The 1678, the first Catholic Church was built here. The city suffered considerably during the two world wars. Name of Livani is associated with the glass. In 1887 a glass factory was founded here, which today has ceased operation. |

If you enjoy an active lifestyle, then this tour is the perfect way to enjoy the heritage hidden in Gauja National Park, from several different perspectives. Cycling starts at Strenči and passes two local breweries at Brenguļi and Valmiermuiža with nice cafés and good beer. You will hike through beautiful forests and along the Sietiņiezis sandstone cliff towards Cēsis with its charming medieval Old Town. Canoeing takes place from Cēsis to Līgatne, which is one of the nicest parts of the River Gauja with its sandstone banks, remote farmsteads and old fashioned water-powered ferry. Līgatne historic centre is connected with the development of its paper mill. Here you can also visit local wine and handicraft producers located in one of the artificial caves typical of the area. Walk the Līgatne Nature Trails to see local wild animals in a forest setting. At the end you will cycle from Līgatne to Sigulda, which is one of the most popular tourist sights in Latvia. You'll see the Turaida and Sigulda medieval castles, Gutman’s Cave and other picturesque views. |

At the end of a wooden footpath in the Planči swamp is a viewing area and place for leisure. This is the place where you can enjoy landscapes of the high-type swamp and breathe the unusual air of the swamp. This is the only outdoor infrastructure object in Latvia with information posted in Braille. It is in the ZBR.

The nature trail was built in 2003 supported by the WWF, the Latvian Environment Protection Fund, the International volunteering organization supporting conservation initiatives in the United Kingdom (BTCV) involving volunteers from Nīca and Rucava municipal parishes. The trail exposes the surrounding landscapes and related biotopes – dunes, forest, grasslands and bog, as well as bird and animal species found there. On the trail, there is a bird watching tower and two birdwatcher hides. You can see the rivers Paurupe and Līgupe, beaver activity areas, grasslands, black alder forest, spruce forest, floodland, wild horses, aurochs, the Šķilu lime tree, the Holy Grove, the Ezerskolas sacrificial stone, the Pape ornithological field station, the Papes polder grasslands and the Pape lighthouse. There are resting places en route. The trail leads through the historical Ķoņu village with the traditional coastal fishing village architecture of buildings and yards. Work on the arboretum, which covers 15 hectares of land, began in 1968, and it was meant to be a landscape park. The first plants were planted in 1972. During the fierce winter of 1976, sadly, many of the plants froze. In 1987, the park was redesigned. At that time it had 234 types of deciduous trees, coniferous trees and bushes. The Bažas swamp is the largest swamp in the Slītere National Park and is
entirely off limits to visitors.

The craftspeople use natural materials to produce rattles, wind chimes and musical instruments. They teach children how to make pipes out of reeds. Aleksandrs has a collection of some 100 different instruments which he knows how to play. You can commission or purchase products from the craftspeople. |

Apkārtnē redzamās pļavas ir nozīmīga daudzu augu sugu dzīves vide un svarīga putnu ligzdošanas un atpūtas vieta. Šī iemesla dēļ taku drīkst apmeklēt tikai no 1. jūlija līdz septembra beigām. Akmeņi ir arī labi redzami no minētā ceļa. Tie ar ledāju atceļojuši no Turku (Somija) apkārtnes. |

The restaurant is at the bridge across the Salaca River, offering traditional Latvian dishes, as well as dishes from other European countries. The tower offers a look at the historical centre of Limbaži , the castle ruins, and the landscape all the way to Lake Dūņezers. The Limbaži castle was part of Latvia’s earliest fortifications, and its unique gates survive to this very day. Keys to the tower can be found at the museum. This is part of the ZBR. |

The Joži farm is along the side of the Jaunpils-Viesata road in Jaunpils. It is one of the largest grain farms in Latvia (winter and summer grains, as well as rapeseed), and it was established in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Today the farm has 14 grain silos and is reconstructing its grain drying facility. The farm has some 5,000 ha of land and state-of-the-art farm equipment. Owners Gunvaldis and Guna Sproģis have been actively involved in various EU projects and have won various competitions such as the "Sower" competition. |
