The Ķemeri National Park (est. 1997) covers wetlands, the shallow waters of the Bay of Rīga, overgrown seaside lakes, swamps, damp forests and wetland meadows. There are many important plants (including some 25% of those that are declared to be rare) and animals, including an area where the locations of nesting and migrating birds are protected. The park includes one of the largest swamps in Latvia – the Great Ķemeri Swamp. This is an important location for sulphurous waters and medicinal dunes, and back in history, that was the reason for the establishment of popular spas in Ķemeri. The Baltic Sea gave this territory one of the old names of Jūrkalne – Felixberg, and people still talk about the interesting legend that is the origin of the name. Several wrecked ships have been found in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Jūrkalne. An exhibition in the museum visualises the underwater world as the deck of a ship that has sunk into the depths of the sea. The exhibition focuses on the cultural and historical heritage of underwater Latvia, allowing visitors to learn all about the history of sailing ships, steamships and other objects that have been raised from the depths. Small children will start to learn about the underwater world, and researchers with broader knowledge will find something new here. |

Built in the 18th century and rebuilt in the mid-19th
century, the parsonage was the place where the Liv flag was first consecrated. Renovations
of the parsonage are underway at this time. Since September 2009, it has been used
by the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church as a rest home for its Recollection Centre.

This location produces alcoholic beverages, including vodka called “Red Cliff Water”, other vodkas, and liqueurs made of cranberries, lingonberries, blackberries, mountain-ash, sea buckthorn, as well as a special “Christmas balsam.” Tours are available with interesting stories about how the beverages are produced. |

The Rāmkalni recreation park is located on the side of the Murjāņi-Valka highway (A3), in the Gauja valley. It offers skiing in winter and cycling, boating, and tobogganing in summer. The restaurant and bistro serves both Latvian and Western European cuisine. Various countryside goods can be purchased in the shop. |

This is a territory that is unique at the Latvian and the Baltic level, one which stretches from Valmiera to the Gulbene District. Here we find the irregular Gauja River valley with a dense system of ancient rivers. The meadows on the banks of these rivers are important in terms of biological diversity. There are stands of oak and broad-leaf trees. Many rare and protected birds live and next here – the corn-crake, the woodpecker, etc. The territory is excellent for bird watching, nature studies, ecological tourism and various kinds of active tourism. |

The cosy land road along the sea is 1 km long, and it offers a look at the wonderful aspects of the village. To the right are rocks from the sea, as well as miniature flower gardens on the seashore with tempting benches and overturned boats. On the side of the shore is the Kaltene library, which is more than 100 years ago. It was initially a summer home for Baron Nolken, and it was built in 1899. Later it was rebuilt several times and took on new roles. An elementary school was installed here in 1926, after which it became a club and then, in 1992, a primary school once again. The path runs along beautiful seashore homesteads, among which one can find the former homes of old fishermen and ship builders such as Burliņi. Olustvere is one of the best preserved manor estates in Estonia. The building complex is set in landscaped grounds in English style with avenues of old trees. Collections of stuffed birds, hand-carved wooden horses with tools and antique furniture are exhibited in the complex. Other buildings and facilities include a distillery, a smithy and handicraft, wool, clay, ceramics and glass workshops where visitors can try their hand in various crafts. The mansion now houses a tourism centre. |

The church was built in 1862 and has an altar painting from the late 19th century, "Mother of God," along with an organ. The metal elements of the building's doors are interesting. Hanging from the ceiling of the church is a sailing ship that has to do with the rescue of the crew of the sunken ship. |

The five-story hotel with a tower at its centre was built in the style of Neo-Classicism between 1933 and 1936, and it is known as the "White House" or "White Ship." The building is seen as one of the most outstanding structures of the first period of Latvian independence, and it was one of the symbols of the independent state. The building has survived, as have some of the interior design elements and artworks of the vestibule, music salon, library and dining hall. The Ķemeri Hotel is also known for having served as a set for the Aigars Grauba film "Terrible Summer." In 1998, the sanatorium was privatised by the Ominasis Italia S.R.L. company. Restoration has continued for more than a decade, and the building can only be viewed from the outside. There is a garden on its western side. |
