The restaurant is in Bocmaņa Square in the centre of Salacgrīva and on the banks of the Salaca River. The well-known “Pie Bocmaņa” saloon has been redesigned and features the topic of Baron Munchhausen. The Lake Lubāns, wetland of Lubāns. Lubāns (80.7 km2) is the largest lake in Latvia and the most popular
lake and wetland in Europe. The lake and the wetland has biodiversity; a unique place not only in Latvia,
but also internationally. Nature Reserve is included in the European Union network of protected areas and
NATURA 2000 under the Ramsar Convention criteria as the wetland of international importance. Lubāns wetland,
called marshy meadows, includes bogs, wet meadows and wet forests. In autumn and spring the lake
attracts thousands of migratory waterfowl which is easily to wach from the bird observation towers or the terrace
of water tourism development center.

The best views of the historical centre relate to the carp park near the Adamova trail, the Karņicskis hill, the bridge across the Daugava (Prospekta Street), and the Priedaine viewing tower on the left bank of the Daugava River. |

Plateļu dienviddaļā plešas sakoptais Plateļu muižas (muižas vēsture ir zināma, no 16. gs.) parks, kura centrā aug Raganu osis – dižkoks 7,2 m apkārtmērā. Parkā un tā tuvākajā apkārtnē ir redzamas muižas saimniecības ēkas. Vienā no tām – atjaunotajā zirgu stallī ir izveidots muzejs, kurā var apskatīt unikālas 250 vietējo meistaru darinātās maskas. Pašreiz šī ir lielākā šāda veida masku kolekcija Baltijas valstīs. Plateļu ezerā ir atrastas trīs no ozolkoka taisītas vienkoča laivas. Viena no tām (darināta 16. gs.) atrodas Lietuvas Jūras muzejā. Otra (15. gs.) ir apskatāma atjaunotajā Plateļu muižas graudu glabātavas pagrabā (Didžioji gatve 22), jo šobrīd tiek restaurēta. Trešā laiva arī izlikta apskatei kā muzeja eksponāts. |

This homestead on the banks of the Rauna River breeds various kinds of fish. During the winter, you can fish for various salmon-type fish, and in the summer you can fish for sturgeon, blue-char, tilapia and trout. The nature park near the town of Ogre is a popular place for leisure, hiking and, in the winter, cross-country skiing. Most of the park is covered with coniferous trees that are on a long and comparatively narrow line of hillocks with steep sides – another element of nature left behind in Latvia by the Ice Age. Many different plants can be found here. The Jaunogres castle hill is one of the most distinct hillocks in the area. |

Kalevipoeg is a hero from the Estonian national epic, most of his stories come from Jõgeva County, where you can find his sword in the Kääpa River, there are his places of rest, stones he’s thrown, springs and bogs, ploughing furrows, etc. The museum has 12 themed rooms presenting Kalevipoeg´s legends as well as Estonian heritage. 17 wooden statues of the epic’s characters stand in the museum grounds. |

The “Pilsbergu krogs” guesthouse and café is 300 metres from the steep shores of Jūrkalne. It is in an historical building that has been restored. The Restaurant is open for the whole year. Foods from European cuisine as well as local dishes like local fish are served. Zilais (Blue) Hill is the highest point in the Idumeja highlands – it is a very distinct hillock covered by forest, and from it there is a “narrow” landscape featuring the northern part of the highlands, as well as the Burtnieks flatlands. The restricted area is there to protect habitats such as gullies, hillsides and the boreal (northern) forest of the area. Zilais Hill is a popular tourist destination.

Schoolchildren up to the 6th grade are offered tours during which they can learn about animals, feed them and pet them. Older students will learn about the evolution and biology of horses, as well as about work with horses. Easy hikes are offered to tourists. |

The workshop offers a look at lanterns, candelabras, hinges, fireplace tools, stair railings and gates that have been manufactured there, as well as several exhibits from the 18th century.
