Boaters along the Gauja will see the Velnala cliffs, which are the last mighty wall along the banks of the Gauja River valley – approximately 15 m high. From the opposite shore of the river, where there are leisure facilities, once can spot the Krimulda Devil’s cave, which is in the centre of the cliff, is some 19 m deep, and is 4.7 m high. There were once wooden structures which allowed people to visit the cave, but that stopped in 1980 for safety reasons. If you head toward Turaida along the lower part of the basic Gauja River shoreline from the Velnala cliffs, then, particularly when the trees are bare, you will see the mighty sandstone Piķene cliff. At its foot is the Piķene beaver trail, which is approximately 1 km long. On quiet evenings, you may well spot a beaver at work. Along the path you will see the Small Devil’s cave (5 m deep) with the Wisdom Stream that flows out of it. The Aunapiere cave is almost as deep. Between the cliff and the Gauja are several small rivulets which are of enormous importance in preserving the diversity of the surrounding environment. |

The Krustkalni Nature Reserve was established in 1977, and the diversity of plants in the region is based both on the terrain – the Madona-Trepe embankment, a series of hillocks with low areas among them, swamps and small lakes – and on the biotope – natural meadows, forest glades, places where underground streams bubble up to the surface, and vast areas of forest with very old stands of trees. Some 800 types of plants have been defined in the reserve. It can be toured only in the company of a guide from reserve headquarters, and one must apply in advance. Visitors can visit the Krāku streams, Lake Svēte-Dreimaņi, and other sites. |

Skaidrīte Bauze is one of Latvia's most famous mitten knitters, with more than 185 pairs of mittens in her collection to demonstrate the wide range of Latvian ornaments and colours. Visitors can look at the collection, listen to information about it, and look at a garden with many different plants and wooden sculptures that are the work of the owner of the farm, Haralds Bauze. |

The restaurant is in the centre of Jelgava among residential buildings. It is known for its interesting interior and for the musical and other events that it organises. Latvian cuisine: Farmer’s omelette, roast pork with chanterelles and wild mushrooms, grit risotto, strawberry soup with ice cream, crepes. Vannūzis (Bath) – A building of the five-building complex “Kurhaus”. During the times of the Neibāde resort, this small building used to be a bath place. In order for the guests of the resort to be able to take a dip in the sea water even in bad weather, barrels of water were delivered by horses to the bath place. |

In Soviet years, Ventspils was the site of tank training. The facility has been degraded, and only the former tank repair facility and some outbuildings are still being used. The rest of the territory is not used or guarded any more.

The late 19th C saw an increase in the development of dairy products in Estonia. The Dairy Museum was established in 1976 to preserve, research and exhibit the history of dairy production. Collections are exhibited both indoors and outdoors, our programmes are very popular and guided tours for groups are available on request. Estonian Dairy Museum tells guests about making dairy products at home, displays and exhibitions on dairy history are also available here. The museum also organises sweet cheese snack, cheese, ice-cream and butter making masterclasses. |

The visitors are offered the excursion around the wine garden and the story about different sorts of grapes and the secrets of wine-making. During the excursion the vistiors can learn about the traditions of growing grapes in Latvia, to see and taste the newest tendencies of grape selectioning,as well as receive advice on growing and tending grapes. It is also possible to try home-made wines and buy grapes saplings. |

The Kaigari farm is in the Mežotne Parish of the Bauska Administrative District and specialises in grain farming. The farm makes active use of EU funding, some of which has been used to buy modern agricultural equipment. The farm has some 400 ha of land, and the apple orchard offers a very beautiful landscape, including the Lielupe River valley. |

in 1670. It is prominent because of its half columns, hexagonal tower, semicircular windows, and a dome
with a cross and antique interior.

Located in a cultural centre at Brīvības Street 15 in Ogre, the museum was established in 1980 and has a permanent exhibition, “Ogre – a Swimming and Air Spa, Relaxation and Everyday Life, 1920-1940,” which offers a good look at the “golden age” of Ogre, when it was a popular spa. The ruins of the Rauna castle (which was built in 1262 and was a main residence of the Livonian archbishop) have a modern viewing tower which offers a view of the impressive castle walls, the place where the former Medieval city was located, and the centre of Rauna. The local government office has the keys to the tower.

Peat moss has been extracted from the Seda heath since the middle of the last century, but it is nevertheless one of the most important NATURA 2000 territories in Latvia, with a great diversity of landscapes, biotopes and biology – birds in particular.
