Reinis Kaudzīte, co-author of the first Latvian novel “Times of the Land-Surveyors” (“Mērnieku laiki”) stayed in Pēterupe Village from 1913. 
In 1913 R. Kaudzīte bought a small property (currently No. 17 School Street), where he spent the last years of his life along with the lady of the house Karlīna Damroze. After the death of R. Kaudzīte, Karlīne – the well-known and respected midwife – continued to run the household. During Soviet times, the house was converted into a residential building. The neighbouring garden-house also acquired the status of a one-room flat, which in 11 August 1991 was turned into the Public Museum of Saulkrasti History. In 2008 the basic idea of the museum was changed and the house underwent redecoration. Now the museum is dedicated to the life of Reinis Kaudzīte in Pēterupe. The exhibition consists of furniture, crockery, household items, tools, photographs and other items of the early 20th century contributed by Saulkrasti residents. 
“Neighbour’s bench” and a signpost with references to places where the writer once travelled to are located in the garden by the building.

Happiness House (Laimes maja) is a recreation place situated in a very beautiful place on the seashore – on Cape Kolka. Here you will have a chance to relax, watch sunrises and sunsets, enjoy the sea, quiteness and peace.
Laimes maja is an ecological building of a cylinder shape, made of fur tree timber with a big oval mirrorlike window. Laimes maja has a characteristic oval shape which gives the house originality of a beautiful design. One end of the house is made of a big half-oval window from which one can see a beatufil landscape. The bed in the house is situated right near the window in order to give visitors unforgettable romantic experiences by feeling united with the landscape and nature outside.

Pļaviņās, pie Daugavas ielas, Daugavas krastā uz laukakmeņiem novietots plosta modelis ar stendu (2011. gads, biedrība „Kopsolis”), kur izlasāms stāsts ar plostnieka atmiņām un aplūkojamas vēsturiskās plostnieku fotogrāfijas. Daugavas posms starp Pļaviņām un Koknesi bija visgrūtāk pārvaramais plostnieku šķērslis ar krācēm un līdz 20 m augstiem, klinšainiem upes krastiem.

This park is a network of farms in Kaika area where visitors can learn about healthy life styles and alternative medicine. Farms have programmes on using herbs and leech in therapies, on the magical worlds of bees and mushrooms, spells and meditation. In workshops you can learn to use weeds in cooking, make bread and herbal drugs. Individual travellers are welcome to explore the farm on their own.

The stronghold dates back to the 13th C, exhibitions in its cellars present wildlife and history of the island. Workshops (smithy, glass, ceramics, stone) run from May to August for visitors to admire or participate in. The archery range nearby adds to the excitement and there you can also mint coins.
Mihkli Farm Museum (+372 454 6613, www.saaremaamuuseum.ee) is a museum branch in Viki village in western Saaremaa with lots to tell and see about heritage, culture and architecture.
