Vastseliina Castle dates from between the 14th and 17th centuries; during this time it was a mighty stronghold on the border between Russia and Europe and in the Middle Ages it was also a pilgrimage destination, it was destroyed in 1702 during the Great Northern War. |

On this tour there are the finest cultural and historical heritage left behind over the course of several centuries – medieval castles, different manors and splendid palaces. Part of the route goes through Gauja National Park with some excellent views of meadows and ancient forest, where farmsteads carry on with their unchanging lives. A picturesque road connects three castles - Sigulda, Turaida and Krimulda - situated on the high valley sides of the Gauja river. Further on, the road passes one of the oldest churches in Latvia and heads to two attractive 19th century manors at Birini and Igate. Next day, relax in luxury at Dikļi manor hotel. The tour then goes through charming medieval town Cesis with mighty castle ruins and a newer castle alomgside. The other part of the tour makes a loop formed by Zemgale's distinctive castles and palaces. It includes Jaunpils Castle, barely changed since medieval times, Dobele Castle ruins and Tervete ancient hillock. Located a short ride from each other are 15th century Bauska Castle, strategically situated between two rivers, the classically styled Mežotne Palace hotel and the most famous pearl in the Baltics - splendid baroque and rococo style Rundāle Palace surrounded by a French park. |

SIA Mikaitas is a family company that was established in 2005 and breeds purebred sheep. It provides seed for other herds to breed fast-growing lambs with excellent taste. The farm breeds the Oxforddown breed of sheep and sells lambs of various ages, breeding sheep and rams, yarn, wool products, processed sheepskin, sheep, mutton and various meat products. |

"Veckūri" is a milk processor that produces non-traditional dairy products from the milk obtained on its farm. The farm is also ranked among the companies that have been awarded the State Export Council awards “Latvian Export Product 2015”. |

The “Lamb Club” is a farm in Mazsalaca, and it is special because the sheep live in a real club! The owners offer the atmosphere of a farm at which the sheep play major roles. Enjoy mutton and sheep milk foods and beverages, feel how comfortable it is to read your favourite while sitting on a fluffy sheepskin, and, in order not to get cold by the campfire in the evening, you can purchase warm woollen socks and woven woollen cloaks. The owners hope that people from Latvia and all around the world will spend more time at the farm, because accommodations involve a new glamping tent that is as close as possible to nature and the healthy rural environment. Don’t lose a lick of the comfort that you are used to in your everyday life! The owners, Ilze and Valters, will be happy to give you a tour during which they talk about herding sheep. If you contact them in advance, they will prepare a tasty mutton meal for you. The tour can also be supplemented with various activities such as games, quizzes and creative workshops at which sheep wool is utilised. |

They work together since 1996. The members are knitting woollen socks, mittens, scarfs, sweaters, embroider sofa cushions, blankets, table cloths, paint on scarfs and ties, weaves blankets, towels, carpets, bookmarks, crochet toys, clothing, blankets as well as creates wickerwork and wooden ware, they demonstrate the baking process of traditional Latvian sklandrauši and tea making. The knitters from the organisation created the traditional mittens for the NATO summit guests in Riga. The visitors can view the different products, learn different crafts, bake sklandrauši and make different tea mixes themselves. They also offer excursions in the renovated Ance’s manor castle. |

The most spectacular autumn events are the Crane shows which can be observed at the bogs and fields. The tour will pass several of these places. We have included different biotops in the tour- seacost, different forests, bogs and fish ponds- in order to see various bird species. |

The café is on the banks of the Daugava River between Stukmaņi and Pļaviņas, offering a bakery, shop and café. There are dozens of types of bread, biscuits, tortes, cakes and other baked goods. Latvian cuisine: Dumpling or sorrel soup, farmer’s breakfast, eggs sunny side up, pork ribs, grey peas, potato pancakes with salmon, crepes, blackberry crème. Special foods: Liepkalni rye bread, bread kvass.

The farm produces large amounts of nectar plants, including mustard plants, clover, lacy phacelia and buckwheat. These are used for apiaries and seeds. You can take a tour and learn about the lives of bees. You can also taste and purchase honey made from willow, buckwheat, heather and other sources. The honeys have won a series of prizes. |

The farm specialises in goat farming and goat cheese. Tours are available with tastings and purchase of products. The herd has some 150 goats, and visitors can taste and buy goat cheese. The farm is certified as a biological farm that focuses on environmental health. |

The congregation was established very recently. Nevertheless the 14 meters high tower was constructed in
2004. The Prayer House is a very simple building but you will be pleased to see the magnificent icons. The
Prayer House has been renovated completely.

Tuhala region has settlements of about 3000 years of age. There are 11 ancient settlement sites, 30 cult stones, 3 burial sites, 4 sacred groves, etc. Tuhala Landscape Reserve has a unique natural feature - the Nõiakaev (Witch´s Well) which “boils” up water during floods at 100 l/s, and 5 mightiest energy columns of the country. |
