This is Latvia’s largest small-leaved lime tree (Tilia cordata). Some of its mighty branches are held up by supports. There are large holes in the trunk that have been covered up to prevent water entering the holes and causing even more rot. Just like many other trees of this size, this was a sacred tree in the past

The farm has a herd of horses and buys horses which confirm to historical demands related to breeds of animals. You can learn to ride a horse in the company of an instructor and in a limited area. During the summer, there are cart rides, while in the winter there are sleigh rides. The horses are also used for weddings and other ceremonies. |

18 A. Upīša Street. The church was built in 1897 in the Neo-Gothic style (Architect H. Shel) and it is one of the few19th century city brick buildings. In the church there is the altarpiece "Christ healing the sick" - I. Zeberliņš (1943). You can see the church from the inside during the worship or by a prior arrangement. Near the church, you can see a monument designed by E. Laube (1926) to 80 Latvian riflemen who died in World War I and who were buried in the Warrior's Cemetery near the river Vēršupīte. Near the cemetery, there are also buried J. Kārkliņš and F. Siliņš, fighters of the Kauguri Battle of May 18, 1919. By a prior arrangement, tourist groups can see the church from the inside. |

In 1685, a military leader from Krakow, Belinsky, paid for the construction of a wooden church in the current location. It was restored in 1749 and lasted until 1887, when it burned down during a storm. A church with two steeples was designed in the Gothic style, and construction of it began one year later. The church was consecrated in 1904 and is one of the most impressive churches in Latvia. Attention should be paid to stained glass windows that feature images of St Meinhard and Albert. Alongside the church is the centre of the Rēzekne-Aglona diocese, which is the seat of the local bishop. |

This park surrounds the mansion of the Biržuvenai Estate, and it is based on the terrain of the Virvite River and an old river that provides water for the park. The central part of the park is regularly designed, while the rest has elements of landscape. Opposite the estate is a glass sculpture, and on its western side is a wooden pergola. Local trees dominate in the park, but there are also trees from other countries. Of importance is a group of oak trees on the banks of the river, as is an alley of linden trees that leads to the pond in the direction of the estate. |

In the South-western parts of the former Spilve airfield, you can still see concrete areas on which Soviet-era military helicopters once landed.

There’s hardly anything left of the zenith missile base which once stood here for the purpose of protecting the western boundaries of the USSR – even specialists would have a hard time finding the location.

Between 1883 and 1891, the estate that was once owned by the Šadurskis family was rented by the father of the great poet Rainis, Krišjānis Pliekšāns. Rainis spent his youth at the estate, as reflected in the poet’s The Land of My Youth Days. Rainis translated Pushkin’s Boris Godunov while at the state. In honour of the poet and his contributions in the world of literature, an exhibition, “Rainis’ High School and University Years,” was opened at the estate in 1964. The restored cattle shed today offers a look at the work of potters in Latgale. |

The viewing tower is in the southern part of the reserve, along the Ļaudona-Mārciena road and on the Madona-Trepe embankment. Here you can view a very wide territory all the way to the Vidzeme highlands, including Gaiziņkalns Hill if the weather is clear. At the foot of the tower you will see the lakes known as Small and Great Lake Plencis. |

The national park was established to protect the 100 or so small islands that make up the archipelago of the local area. The largest island, the Vilsandi Island, is 6 km long and up to 2 km wide. You can rent a boat to get there, or, during appropriate conditions, you can walk across the sea and the small islands from the southern end of the Kuusnõmme peninsula.

The craftspeople offer tours during which you can watch them at work. You can also produce your own souvenirs with various techniques, including the potter’s wheel and the engraving technique, making use of pre-prepared moulds. You can also commission and purchase ceramics products. This location is popular among children and wedding parties. |

This is a closed and guarded territory on the banks of Lake Būšnieks in Staldzene. The former project building is on the shore of the sea.

The “Dabas zirgi” centre for horse and human welfare is in the historical Mežinieku neighbourhood in suburban Rīga, and it will be a revelation to those who wish to have a sense of belonging related to Latvia and its environment. Touch the forest, enjoy the cool water of the Misa River, encounter a swamp or see the breath of a horse on a foggy morning. You’re welcome to spend a longer amount of time at this venue with new glamping opportunities in a lovely forested area next to the steep shores of the Misa River. This offers complete silence with only the woods and the river nearby. Along with the horses, of course. “Dabas zirgi” offers strolls with a horse, tours involving feeding the animals, as well as horseback rides. Family celebrations are perfect here with a lean-to, a grill, and a pot on a campfire. Contact the venue in advance to arrange for prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a sauna with a jacuzzi. |

They work together since 1996. The members are knitting woollen socks, mittens, scarfs, sweaters, embroider sofa cushions, blankets, table cloths, paint on scarfs and ties, weaves blankets, towels, carpets, bookmarks, crochet toys, clothing, blankets as well as creates wickerwork and wooden ware, they demonstrate the baking process of traditional Latvian sklandrauši and tea making. The knitters from the organisation created the traditional mittens for the NATO summit guests in Riga. The visitors can view the different products, learn different crafts, bake sklandrauši and make different tea mixes themselves. They also offer excursions in the renovated Ance’s manor castle. |

The pride of the farm is a herd of approximately 100 goats, and the owner produces milk, cheese, cottage cheese and yogurt from goat milk. You can go on a tour, visit the animals, and taste and purchase biologically produced and healthy products. You can go fishing in the nearby pond and then grill your catch. |

This tower is on the shores of the ancient Litorine Sea, with a lovely view of the unique seashore here – complete with small bays and capes. It is part of the Kaltene nature trail, which is around one kilometre long. The location is of particular interest during spring or autumn migration of birds. Two other bird-watching platforms are nearby.

There are still some buildings, missile silos and an apartment building from the old No. 158 Zenith Missile Base at Ziemupe, but the territory has been abandoned and degraded.
