Andris Roze is one of very few kokle makers in Latvia who manufactures the instrument and helps others to do so at master’s classes. Roze also manufactures other traditional musical instruments, demonstrates them, offers consultations about them, collects them and gathers together historical information. He works at the Drabeši Crafts House, where people can learn traditional skills such as weaving, processing of leather, felting, pottery and construction of musical instruments. |

The 77th Zenith Missile Brigade of the Soviet Army was charged with air defences along the Soviet Union’s external border. The facility is owned by the regional local government and is not used for anything. There is an interesting gate at the entrance to the facility, however.

The hard-working family of the owner makes smoked ham and bakes bread. The meat is smoked according to local recipes in a self-made smokery, which gives the meat a special smoky taste, while the bread is baked from high-quality whole-grain rye flour. You can purchase bread and ham on Fridays. |

The “backbone” to this park is the valley of the Šventoji (Holy) River. One of the most impressive Devonian cliffs in Lithuania can be seen from the river – Vetygalos atodanga. On the shores of the Varius stream is a cliff made of quartz and sand – Variaus atodanga. 6 km to the S of Anykščiai is Lithuania’s second largest rock (5.7 m high, ~100 m3) – Puntukas akmuo.

Vēstures materiālos Lielbātas avots pirmo reizi pieminēts 1253. gadā un līdz šim brīdim turpina savu plūdumu. Lielbātas avots atrodas sakoptā un ekoloģiski tīrā vidē. Laikam ritot, avota ūdens plūsma nav mazinājusies, bet tieši pretēji, tā ir pieņēmusies spēkā un ar apbrīnojamu jaudu avots turpina dot unikālu dabas velti – tīru, bioloģiski aktīvu, pareizi strukturētu ūdeni, neapstājoties ne dienu, ne nakti, ne ziemu, ne vasaru. Netālu no avota atrodas vēsturiskā Vaiņodes jeb Lielbātas pils, kuru 19. gs. vidū būvēja barons Osten Sakens. Vēstures liecības liecina, ka šī vieta pils būvniecībai nav izvēlēta nejauši. 1923. gadā pilī tika izveidota sanatorija, kas ne tikai bija priekšzīmīgākā Latvijā, bet varēja cienīgi līdzināties ārzemju sanatorijām. Tam par iemeslu bija dabiski tīrā un dziednieciskā vide, kas saglabājusies līdz pat mūsdienām. Lielbātas pils ir privātīpašums un apmeklētājiem nav pieejama, taču Lielbātas avots ir brīvi pieejams, un katram ir iespējams nogaršot avota ūdeni. The Peipsi barge is a type of sailing ship specially adapted to Lake Peipsi and Emajõgi River conditions, and originates from the 14th C. Jõmmu was the first barge launched in 2006 following a 50-year gap. The Emajõgi River Barge Association runs varied trips on the Emajõgi River and Lake Peipsi. Little fans of barges can learn about old crafts and shipbuilding at the barge yard. |
