Sweet and sour rye bread is baked here on the hearth of a wood-fired oven, following an old family recipe and using home-grown, historical varieties of rye flour. The dough consists of rye or barley flour, salt, sugar, caraway seas and natural yeast. You can help to bake the bread, taste and buy it, and tour the farm’s museum. Latvia’s highest hill is the second highest in the Baltic States, but alas, it has only a wrecked viewing tower, so you’ll have to look for the best views on your own. You’ll find some around the tower and the ski trails, particularly Large and Small Golgotha. It is worth hiking the Gaiziņkalns nature trail.

Lietuvas lielākais sūnu purvs, kura aizsardzības nolūkā ir izveidots Čepkeļu dabas rezervāts (Čepeklių gmatinis rezervatas). Tas izvietojies starp Dzūkijas nacionālā parka dienvidaustrumu daļu un Baltkrieviju. No Marcinkones pa smilšainu meža ceļu (~ 9 km turp - atpakaļ) ar kājām vai divriteni (arī nelielu tūrisma autobusu līdz 20 vietām) var nokļūt līdz purva malai, kur mežainās kāpās un purvā izveidota 1,5 km gara dabas taka un skatu tornis, no kura labi pārredzama purva rietumdaļa. Pirms došanās uz Čepkeļu purvu, ir jāreģistrējas Dzūkijas nacionālā parka apmeklētāju centrā (Šilagėlių gatve 11), kas meklējams aiz dzelzceļa pārbrauktuves. Te apskatāma neliela nacionālajam parkam un rezervātam veltīta ekspozīcija. |

Built in the turn of the19th to 20th century. Next to it-on the right bank of the river Vēršupīte, there is located one of the most popular Latvian sulphur water springs, called "Small lizard". The spring runs out from a stone-designed lizard sculptured in 1949 (Sculptor J. Bajārs). Its water is healthy for using both internally and externally. Not far from the pavilion there can be found Jānis Lībietis alley sign. J. Lībietis worked in the position of a director for the sulphur water spring authority of Kemeri from 1928 to 1944. |

A shallow, eutrophic (more than 60% coverage), lagoon-type lake, which is a restricted area to protect the overgrowing lake and the damp meadows which surround it. There are some 60 species of nesting birds in the area. The system of dams on the southern shore of the lake can be used by visitors to look at the area.

The farm "Krūmiņi", popularly called the Bread House, is a place to participate in real rural bread baking rituals, make dough and bake pies yourself, get to know grains, explore grain products, create Latvian strength signs and learn about centuries-old traditions related to bread. The heartfelt owners of the farmstead in the old barn also offer to enjoy the anniversaries, unusually celebrate their special holidays and enjoy extended life skills programs with soup cooked by the fire and watching natural events. When visiting the Bread House, you will learn why bread is baked here with the taste of freedom for almost 100 years, and the merry owners of the house know best to tell about it. |

This tour combines local wine making traditions with an ancient charm of countryside with several medieval castles and baronial estates. The tour goes to Sigulda where on the steep banks of Gauja valley sits three castles. Visit Turaida and Sigulda medieval castles and then go to Krimulda Manor to try their wines. There is also a visit to a family wine maker in Sigulda. Next day there is an excursion of historic village of Ligatne and tasting of local wines located at the sand cave typical for the area. Further on the route there is an impressive Cesis medieval castle ruins and Ungurmuiza Manor which is an only preserved sample of wooden baroque manor architecture in the Baltics. Overnight is at former Dikli Manor which is now an upmarket hotel. Next day the route goes along the coast where is museum of the biggest liar in the world - Munchausen. You can also stroll along sandy beach there. Then visit farm of local winemaker and taste his various wines and then visit Birini Manor for a dinner and have relaxing stroll into their huge park before returning to Riga. |

The café is located the Krūziņi guesthouse in the centre of Dundaga. Latvian cuisine: Sauerkraut soup, grey peas with curdled milk, roast perch or cod, sorrel soup with potatoes. Special foods: “A tower of cottage cheese” or crème from the ingredients of the Dundaga Dairy. |

This restricted area was established to protect a high-type swamp, a swampy forest and a series of rare birds. The Niedrāji-Pilka swamp can be crossed with dry feet while enjoying almost virginal nature. This is possible on the narrow-gauge railroad embankment which runs through the swamp for three to four kilometres from the North-east to the South-west, or on the well-appointed circular wood pathway which is on the eastern size of the embankment.

This is the most modern rabbit farm in the Baltic States. The animals live in cages in a shed, but there are also cages outside where they can be viewed. Children will love contacts with 24 types of rabbits, as well as an opportunity to study the surrounding area from a viewing tower. If you apply in advance, you can purchase fresh rabbit meat, sausages, dried meats and pâté. A new thing at the farm is the Mangalicas breed of wild pigs from Hungary. |

Vastseliina Castle dates from between the 14th and 17th centuries; during this time it was a mighty stronghold on the border between Russia and Europe and in the Middle Ages it was also a pilgrimage destination, it was destroyed in 1702 during the Great Northern War. |

The carpenter’s workshop offers special excursions and events for grown-ups and children; there are some thematical programmes available. Under the guidance of a craftsman it is possible to work with traditional wood-working tools and get to know ancient games. In the end you will have a chance to try special „strengthening” tea and have a picnic in a romantic Bonfire house. It is possible to buy wooden souvenirs as well as order them. |

Atrodas 0,1 km austrumos no katoļu bazilikas. Jau no 1825. g. Svētavota ūdeni izmantoja dziednieciskiem mērķiem. Līdz 19. gs. 40. gadiem avota ūdens īpašības bija izslavētas tāpat kā Aglonas Dievmātes svētbildes brīnumdarītājas spējas. Tās savulaikapstiprinājusi Viļņas ārstu komisija un Pēterpils akadēmija, taču ap 1840. g. avots savas īpašības esot zaudējis. Tomēr arī mūsdienās svētceļnieki joprojām tic avota spēkam. |

They work together since 1996. The members are knitting woollen socks, mittens, scarfs, sweaters, embroider sofa cushions, blankets, table cloths, paint on scarfs and ties, weaves blankets, towels, carpets, bookmarks, crochet toys, clothing, blankets as well as creates wickerwork and wooden ware, they demonstrate the baking process of traditional Latvian sklandrauši and tea making. The knitters from the organisation created the traditional mittens for the NATO summit guests in Riga. The visitors can view the different products, learn different crafts, bake sklandrauši and make different tea mixes themselves. They also offer excursions in the renovated Ance’s manor castle. |
