Болото Седа с его зарослями тростника и поймами богато дикими животными. На следующий день будет поход на байдарках вдоль реки Гауя, где сможете понаблюдать за птицами с другой точки, а если повезет, увидите бобров и других диких преодставителей фауны. Затем через дубовую рощу отправитесь к озеру Лубанс. Его заболоченные территории и рыбные пруды образуют одно из главных мест наблюдения за птицами в стране. Местное блюдо — уха (рыбный суп) согреет вас. Это место также является одним из первых известных поселений каменного века на территории Латвии. На пути обратно в Ригу сделаем остановку в сосновом лесу Гаркалне.

На острове Доле (крупнейший речной остров Латвии) находится жилое здание усадьбы Доле (построено в 1898 г.) – родовая собственность Левисов из Менара. В усадьбе Доле создан музей с богатейшей коллекцией экспонатов, повествующей о жизни людей на берегах Даугавы. В располагающемся рядом парке (этнографические постройки, пути миграций миног и лососей) находятся и пять уникальных пушек, которые были откопаны в Саласпилсе при строительстве нового стадиона. В этом месте в 1910 году находился лагерь военных сил Царской армии и был открыт памятник Петру I. Еще одна из найденных здесь пушек находится в самой экспозиции музея.

Not far from the Rīga ring road on the Right Bank of the Daugava is a monument designed by the sculptor Ģirts Burvis in 1994, which is dedicated to the Livs of the Daugava region and their Mārtiņsala leader, Ako,  who led a battle against the Holy Crusades in 2016.  Around the monument is a large area for leisure and perambulations.  This is one of the loveliest locations in the lower reaches of the river.  A bit further along are information stands about the history of the banks of the river before the construction of the Rīga hydroelectric power plant.

For the first time, Balvi as populated area was mentioned in 1224. In the turn of 19th and 20th century, Balvi as manor and the parish centre formed as a larger settlement. During the Latvian freedom fights in 1919 Balvi was a place of establishment of Latgale guerrilla regiment. In 1926 Balvi obtained village rights, but by the 1928 became a town. During the World War II, while retreating, the German burnt down Balvi almost completely. People of Balvi are proud that the sun rises here about three minutes earlier than in the capital. Also the centre of the town has changed over the recent years.
