From Vilnius the route goes to picturesque Trakai Castle surrounded by lake from which it continues to Dzūkija National Park. The park introduces with traditional Lithuanian way of living, closeness with forest as well as valuable natural resources. Information centre and centre of etnoculture is located at Marcinkonys but Čepkelių raistas provides atmospheric vast bog landscape. Pleasant forest trails and quite roads are pleasant for cycling. Druskininkai is a historic spa resort with charming old town, many spa hotels, walking trails and entertainment facilities. There is the Grutos Park where monuments from Soviet area is collected in order to demonstrate the former oppressive ideology. From there the road heads to lively Kaunas which sits between two rivers -Nemunas and Neris. |

The origins of the castle that was built in the style of Classicism date back to 1784. Later it was rebuilt into a two-story building with a portico with four columns at its centre. A new period in the development of the state began in 1993, when restoration of the buildings began. The estate currently houses a children’s village, while the mansion is now a hotel.

This is the highest point in the Latgale highlands (289 metres above sea level), opening up a narrow but lovely view of Lake Rāzna and the massive forests of the highlands. You really should visit this hill when the sun is setting beautifully!

This is an area that is full of legend and tale. There is a stiff hillock, which stands about 66 metres above the surrounding land. From its southern side, you can see the Burtnieki lowlands. The tower, however, is not open to the public.

Jaunpils development is linked to the Livonian Order's castle, which until now has hardly changed its building volume and appearance. From 1561 until 1919 it belonged to the barons Reki family. In 1905 the castle was burned down, but later it was reconstructed under the supervision of architect V. Bockslaff. Substantial castle restoration work began during the sixties of 20th century. Now in the castle is a museum, but gourmets can taste medieval dishes at the castle tavern. |

Pļaviņu HES ēka ir apvienota ar ūdens pārgāzi, zem kuras atrodas Latvijas garākais tunelis - Enerģētiķu iela. 20. gs. deviņdesmitajos gados Pļaviņu HES rekonstruēja un tagad tās jauda ir sasniegusi 870 MW. Apmeklētāji var iepazīt mašīnzāli, skatu laukumus un HES maketu. |

This nature park is located in the most distinct part of the Dagda hillocks of the Latgale highlands. Part of it is the deepest lake in the Baltic States -- Lake Drīdzis, which is 63.1 metres deep and has nine islands. Also there is Lake Otis. The loveliest views can be watched from the ancient Lettigalian castle hill that is known as Sauleskalns, and from the eastern shores of Lake Drīdzis. Accommodations are available near the lake. |

The Burbišķe Estate houses the Daugivene Culture and History Museum. The 28 ha territory is environmentally protected. The central part of the park has a pond that covers 3 ha and has 15 islands and 11 bridges, both large and small. Since 2000, the estate has hosted a tulip festival with some 300 types of tulips. |

You can learn about the lives of bees and buy honey made from all kinds of flowers, propolis, propolis blankets and wax candles. Apian therapy is offered here. This is an ancient method which involves a bed under which there are beehives. The bees create warmth, vibration and a biofield. |
