The old wooden tower at this site was torn down and replaced with the one that is there now. The restored tower offers one of the loveliest views in Eastern Latvia – one of the eight curves of the Daugava. This is the Rozališki curve. Here you will get a whole new sense of the Daugava River and its mighty valley in a place where the waters of a hydroelectric plant bubble away in our present day and age. It is claimed that the scene that is seen on the 10 lats note is based on the view which can be seen to the West from the tower. |

Latgale Farmstead „Mežmalas”. The owners of the farmstead created an interesting collection of the old
household items, tools and equipment of the 19th and 20th century. The visitors are offered to try plainting of

The restaurant is in the Promenade Hotel, which was established at historical port docks in Liepāja. It works with local farmers and fishermen and offers live music on weekends. Latvian cuisine: Mutton soup, baked plaice or catfish filet, cod prepared according to traditional fishermen’s recipes, crepes. Special foods: Freshly caught fish with grilled vegetables. |

This is one of the highest points among the hillocks of the Selonian area of Zemgale – Borīškalns Hill. From the tower, you will see Lake Sauka, as well as the forests and farmland which surround it. The “Kalna Ļūdāni” farm is nearby, and its owner uses his livestock to help to maintain the surrounding landscape.

You will see the world’s longest amber necklace (123 m, 19 kg!!), which was made with bits of amber that were contributed by local residents. Creative workshops are organised for children. |

Ložmetējkalns Hill is one of the highest locations at the Long Dune. There is a monument to heroic Latvian riflemen who suffered great losses here during the Christmas battles of late 1916. There is a great view of forests all the way to Jūrmala, as well as of the Maztīrelis swamp, where the embankment of the former narrow-gauge railroad is very evident. This is part of a memorial park to commemorate the Christmas battles. You can visit the Mangaļi museum, the restored “German Rampart,” monuments and other objects.

The craftsman produces wooden dishware and other products, making use of many local species of trees. The technique is unusual and reveals the specific texture of timber. The artist has masterfully integrated amber, bone and animal horn in his dishware. He also engraves spoons with ethnographic signs. You can commission or purchase products from the master craftsman, who also restores wooden furniture. |

To the North of the Cesvaine Castle is a park that is crossed by the rapidly flowing Sūla River. The Cesvaine castle hill is on the northern bank of the river, is around 15 m high and is covered by trees today. The grave of the owner of the castle, Adolf von Wolff, is there. It is said that he wanted to have his casket dragged to the gravesite on a sled. He died during the summer, but that was done anyway. The park features a wide diversity of trees and bushes, some of which the owner brought home from his extensive travels. |

The church was built between 1640 and 1642 as a mark of respect for the king of Poland. It was commissioned by Duke Jacob Kettler and has a confessional bench with allegoric paintings (1691), as well as three altars decorated with Rococo carvings. There is a 16th century sculpture of the Madonna and her child. Contact the church for a tour. |
