Находится~ в 4 км, не доезжая до Априки (установлен указатель) – Гибортское кладбище. Слепой Индрикис (1783 – 1828) был латышом, опубликовавшим первое собрание стихов на латышском языке (1806 г.). Индрикис был слепым с 5-летнего возраста и был необразован. Его стихи записал и издал в упомянутом году священник Априкского прихода K. Г. Элверфелдс. На кладбище установлен памятный камень (1935 г.) и созданное Вилнисом Титансом «Аустрас кокс» с надписью шрифтом Брайля.

Vienīgā baznīca nacionālā parka teritorijā. Tā atrodas Kirblas (Kirbla) ciemā – uz neliela pacēluma, kas Baltijas ledus ezera laikā bijusi sala, kuru no visām pusēm ietvēris ūdens. Kirblas baznīcas pirmsākumi ir meklējami 16. gs. un par tās celtniecību saglabājušies dažādi interesanti nostāsti. Tas ir viens no mazākajiem Igaunijas dievnamiem (29 x 11 m).

Etwa einen Kilomter westlich der ehemaligen Schule Varnava findet man den Hof „Rudzīši“ des Familienbetriebs von Ēvalds Pūpols. Pūpols hat einen großen Teil seines Lebens dem Weinanbau und der Zucht von Rebsorten gewidmet. Im hügeligen Land, in dem einst der Stamm der Selonen lebte, wurde in dem von Wald umgebenen Hof eine schmucke und gut gepflegte Umgebung geschaffen, die für wärmeliebende Rebsorten gut geeignet ist. In dem fast einen Hektar großen Weinberg wachsen etwa 80 verschiedene Rebsorten. Dieser Weinberg, der an Südosthängen angelegt ist, ist einer der größten in Lettland und in Bezug auf die Zahl der verschiedenen Rebsorten der reichste. Entlang der zahlreichen Wege kann man den Garten besichtigen und die schönen Aussichten auf Selonia genießen. Der Winzer steht auch als Touristenführer zur Verfügung, man kann vieles Interessante über den Weinanbau und die Zucht von Rebsorten erfahren und auch Rebstöcke kaufen. In guten Jahren kann man natürlich auch Weintrauben verkosten. Im Hof „Rudzīši“ finden Erntefeste und weitere Veranstaltungen statt.

This is the most modern rabbit farm in the Baltic States. The animals live in cages in a shed, but there are also cages outside where they can be viewed. Children will love contacts with 24 types of rabbits, as well as an opportunity to study the surrounding area from a viewing tower. After passing through Sigulda, the Forest Trail follows the River Vējupīte to Paradīzes Hill, where a steep staircase leads down into the ancient valley of the River Gauja and the ravine of the River Vējupīte. It continues to wind down smaller paths through meadows, crossing small rivers whose banks reveal sandstone outcrops. The last six kilometres of this section follow a smaller path down the Līgatne Nature Trails. You can see local wildlife animals and birds on this 5.5 km long trail. Further on the Forest Trail moves up the hills of the ancient valley of the River Gauja, before descending back down into the deep ravine of the River Līgatne, where the village of the former Līgatne paper mill is located. You can explore this attractive small village, visit the Līgatne spoon factory, winery and Līgatne caves. There is also the Līgatne Net Park with 4-7 m high net labyrinths among the treetops.

This part of the Forest Trail and Gauja National Park is characterised by a gradual transition from diverse, deciduous forests (ash, grey alder, oak, birch, linden) to coniferous stands.

The Pilkalne Estate is in a remote location on the border of Latvia and Lithuania, 5 km to the Southwest of Nereta. Lovers of history certain must visit this estate. Why? One reason is that the grain kiln of the estate, which is gradually being restored, and the grain drying stove, a few wooden parts of which have been preserved, are unique in Latvia. The stable and servants’ home have also survived and are populated today. The buildings were built in the 18th century. The owner can tell you stories about interesting aspects of this location’s history.

This is a beautiful farm that is friendly to the environment and has some 300 hives of bees. There is a shop along with a tasting hall where you can enjoy honey made of various flowers, pollen (including pollen in honey), propolis (also in honey) bee bread, wax and souvenirs. Taste beekeeping products (including honey wine) and take a tour of the farm, as well.

This farm uses traditional hives to extract honey, and it offers a look at hives that were used in the past. The owners are happy to talk about the development of beekeeping in Latvia and their experience in this regard.

The barrow which offers a good view is at the northern end of the Dunduri meadows – at the end of Melnragi. It is an artificial barrow which follows along with the bed of the little Slampe River. The meadows are home to livestock allowed to live in the wild, and you can see a bit of the restored Slampe. The view is particularly interesting during flooding season, when the surrounding wetlands become saturated. This is a location for bird-watching.

Found at Rīgas Street 22A, this impressive building was suggested by Latvian President Kārlis Ulmanis and built in 1936 and 1937 after a design by the architect Verners Vitands.  It is seen as one of the most outstanding architectural monuments from the first period of Latvian independence, and it is said that it was once the most modern multifunctional building in all of Europe.  The building now houses the Daugavpils Theatre, the Latgale Central Library, the Latvian Cultural Centre, the Latvian House, the US Information Centre, the Daugavpils Tourism Information Centre and other institutions.  Unity Square is alongside the building, and beautiful compositions of flowers are nearby during the growing season.
