Das Bažu Moor – ist das größte Moor im Nationalpark Slītere. Es befindet sich
in der strengen Zone vom Naturverbot und ist für Besucher gesperrt.

Die Idee des Zentrums besteht in der Stärkung der Gesundheit durch reine Lebensmittel. Deshalb wird hier geschmackvolle Feinkost aus leicht verarbeiteten, vitaminreichen Lebensmitteln angeboten. Hauptsächlich werden die im Garten des Zentrums und in den benachbarten Betrieben angebauten frischen Produkte verwendet. Speziell entwickelte Kuren bestehen aus leckeren Gemüsesuppen und Eintöpfen sowie verschiedenen Breien. Die Heilkuren sehen nicht nur bestimmtes Essen, sondern auch Prozeduren und Übungen vor. Sie müssen deshalb im Voraus bestellt werden. |

Found in the northern part of Cesvaine, the church was built of fieldstones in the Neo-Gothic style in 1879 by the architect Paul Max Bertschy. The church was restored in 1929 and again in the early 1990s. The altar painting, “Christ on the Cross” (1923) is by Jēkabs Bīne.

The fisherman offers you a chance to engage in string-based fishing at the seashore near Nida and Pape, fishing out in the sea (1-2 people), and ice fishing during the winter. You can smoke what you catch or cook fish soup with it. |

They work together since 1996. The members are knitting woollen socks, mittens, scarfs, sweaters, embroider sofa cushions, blankets, table cloths, paint on scarfs and ties, weaves blankets, towels, carpets, bookmarks, crochet toys, clothing, blankets as well as creates wickerwork and wooden ware, they demonstrate the baking process of traditional Latvian sklandrauši and tea making. The knitters from the organisation created the traditional mittens for the NATO summit guests in Riga. The visitors can view the different products, learn different crafts, bake sklandrauši and make different tea mixes themselves. They also offer excursions in the renovated Ance’s manor castle. |

Viena no slepenākajām vietām kādreizējā Padomju Latvijā - bunkuri ir bijušais raķešu vadības punkts un patvertne. Bunkurus izveidoja 1950. un 1960. gadu mijā Padomju armijas vajadzībām. Par atrašanos šajā teritorijā draudēja bargs sods. Celtnes izveidošanai ar milzīgām 16- riteņu kravas automašīnām tika atvesti lieli dzelzbetona bloki. Pēc trīs bunkuru izveidošanas, papildus nostiprināšanai un nosiltināšanai tos apbēra ar granti. Celtne sastāv no 2 x 3 sekcijām, kas pievienotas vidējam gaitenim. Blakus ēkā atradās skola, kad 1946. gadā tā daļēji bija izdegusi, tika noslēgts līgums ar Padomju armijas garnizonu par telpu īri. Tā Valkas pilsētas centrā radās militārais centrs un Valka kļuva par Padomju Savienībai svarīgu kodolbruņojuma objektu. Objekts pieejams tikai no ārpuses! |

К северо-востоку от Мазирбской лютеранской церкви – в полемежду храмом и домом «Пакални» видны два чумных камня. На поверхности бóльшего был высечен (сейчас стерся) текст о ливах, которых одолел король Швеции Карл IX и чума. Сбоку на большой камень опирается второй (самый маленький) чумной камень, который в свое время был установлен у близлежащих домов. Стертый текст рассказывал об армиях, ходивших по Курземе, о голоде и чуме. Третий – Большой чумной камень находится заМазирбским имением священника. Высеченный на нем текст (еще немного просматривается) повествует будущим поколениям о местном священнике (умер во время чумы) и о создании пастората в Сикрагсе. Одновременно камень является памятником шести пасторам обширной окрестной общины. Все три камня повествуют о Большой эпидемии чумы 1710 года, и тексты высечены на них в период с 1711 по 1734 год. |

Das litauische Institut für Obst- und Gartenbau erhielt 1992 den Status eines staatlichen Wissenschaftsinstituts. Es ist nicht nur wissenschaftlich tätig, sondern auch als Züchter und Entwickler. Das Institut baut litauisches Obst und Gemüse an und erzeugt daraus hochwertige, gesunde und natürliche Produkte. |

Das 1768 gebaute Käsehäuschen, das sich auf dem Gelände des Landguts Smiltene (Kalnamuiža) befindet, ist das einzige in Lettland erhaltene Objekt des industriellen Erbes dieser Art. Im Erdgeschoss wurden hier Milch und Käsekessel aufbewahrt. Eine nicht erhaltene Treppe führte zum ersten Stock. Im ersten Stock wurde den Käse getrocknet und zu diesem Prozess trugen die in den Holzteilen des Häuschens gemachten Löcher bei (Käse wurde sich ausgelüftet). Abgesehen davon, dass die Löcher schon zugemacht sind, sind die heutzutage gut zu sehen. Das Häuschen befindet sich nahe der Ruinen der mittelalterlichen Burg von Smiltene. Ist in einem sehr kritischen Zustand! Nur von außen zu betrachten. |

Here you will learn about home-based manufacturers, farms, companies and others in southern Vidzeme that produce various dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, ice cream, etc. From Rīga, take the Vidzeme Highway and turn toward Mālpils. On the way to Ērgļi and Jumurda, you’ll be delighted by the hillocks of the Vidzeme highlands and the lovely landscape that they represent. Near Ērgļi you will find Braki, the home of the classical Latvian author Rūdolfs Blaumanis, Meņģeļi, home of the Jurjāns brothers, and the Jumurda Estate. Drive on through Cesvaine, stopping to look at its impressive castle, and on to Madona, where you can have a delicious meal. From Madona, follow the lovely banks of the Daugava River to Koknese (Destiny Island, the Koknese castle, park and church), and on to Skrīveri, where the author Andrejs Upītis was born. There’s a homemade ice cream place and the factory that produces the universally known penuche candy that is sold under the “Gotiņa” brand name in Latvia. Then drive to Ogre for some Sierštelle cheeses and then back to Rīga. |

This programme allows participants to learn about Latvian ethnography and traditions through meeting local craftsmen and having master classes with them in knitting traditional mittens and gloves, making amber jewellery and cooking traditional foods. There is chance to have a unique experience because of the authenticity of some places and traditions, for example the ethnographic house of living history Zvanītāji still retains its original appearance - massive ceilings, large family room with bread oven and natural, unpainted wooden floor. The carew chimney is still in the kitchen. The house is filled with characteristic looms, a family table, beds, wardrobe, cradle, various items and tools used on the farm. |
