This nature park features the most beautiful and distinct parts of the Vanema hillocks in Northern Kurzeme, and the aim is to protect the hillocks of Talsi. This is one of the loveliest parts of Kurzeme, with small but distinct hillocks and ravines among them. There are small but fairly deep lakes in the area – the Lake Ābeļi, Lake Čumals, Lake Sirdsezers, etc. Some of them are reminiscent of nothing other than deep craters. The territory is very good for active tourists – hikers (there are nature trails), bicyclists, etc. |

This small restricted area protects the Swedish juniper and the lime meadows in which it grows. There is a marked circular trail which allows visitors to study one of the few but excellent stands of juniper in Latvia. The bushes are 50 to 70 years old, and all around them are interesting habitats, plants and animals. Natural stands of juniper in the Baltic States are the result of farm work such as reaping, chopping, etc., as well as of herding of sheep and other livestock. A small part of the area is still “managed” by sheep. Unfortunately many junipers have died because of overgrowing of territory. |

Vilnius' historic centre has distinctive baroque churches. The massive sand dunes of the Curonian Spit and Nida with its characteristic blue framed windows are among Lithuania's most attractive sights. Trakai has its picturesque medieval castle on the lake as well as the small Karaitis ethnic comunity with their unique traditions and food. Port towns Klaipeda and Liepaja have both developed into bustling modern cities with lively cafe culture. |

In Bolderāja – östlich von der Lielupe Straße und südöstlich von der Jātnieku Straße am Ufer von Daugava sind Überreste von vier in die Luft gesprengten Batterienpositionen erhalten geblieben. Diese Batterien, in denen Geschütze des Kalibers 152 aufgestellt waren, sind einen Teil vom ehemaligen Fortifikationssystem von Riga (siehe auch Komētforts, Festung in Daugavgrīva, Fortifikationen in Mangaļsala). Das Ziel der Batterien war die Stadt von den Angreifer, die von der Meeresseite kämen (kamen) zu schützen. Von dem Oberteil der Batterien ist der Fluss Daugava und neu aufgeschütteter nördlichen Teil des Russischen Insels (ein riesengroßer Sandberg). Svētkalnā atradusies krustnešu nocietinātā pils. Zemgaļiem to nebija pa spēkam ieņemt, tādēļ, nodedzinādami savu pili Tērvetes pilskalnā (1286. g.), tie aizgāja uz Raktes (Žagares) novadu Lietuvā. Kad Svētkalna nocietinājumi bija zaudējusi savu militāro nozīmi, krustneši to nojauca. 1701. g. Ziemeļu kara laikā Svētkalnā atradās zviedru armijas nocietinātā apmetne, no kā arī cēlies vietvārds. Domājams, ka pirms tam šajā vietā atradusies seno zemgaļu svētvieta. No Svētkalna paveras viena no skaistākajām un biežāk fotografētajām Tērvetes ainavām. |

Der Pfad liegt an der Küste der Rigaer Bucht, man kann kleinere Buchten und Landspitzen betrachten, die Küste ist steinig oder zugewachsen. Am Ende des Pfades befindet sich ein Ausichtsturm zur Vogelbeobachtung, denn im Frühling und in der Zeit des Vogelzugs sammeln sich in der Umgebung von Kaltene vielfältige Gänsevögel, Regenpfeiferartige und andere Vogelarten.
