Strautmali

We had most the satisfying and fun times at this wonderful forest surrounded country property/guest house not far from most beautiful sandy beaches (10 min by car). It’s probably the most entertaining and exotic stay we had ever had and we had traveled a lot. The property is run by a real dreamer: professor J.Dreifelds from Canada who spends his summers here at his “summer residence” as he calls “Strautmali”. There you can find a unique library, probably one of the largest in the country. One of Juri’s permanent guests is country singer Tom who also is born in Canada but has fallen in love with Latvia 10+ years ago, and if you are lucky (as we were) you might hear him singing in the evenings. The guest houses are very clean and well looked after, and the manager Lolita is very polite and accommodating to every guests’ need and request, and she is a real pleasure to communicate. Us and our two teenagers stayed in two rooms next to each other, but we also used common areas and so far our favourite was the old barn converted into entertainment house filled with many antiquities and collectors finds. There is a country sauna Latvian style (for additional cost) and fire pit if you decide to enjoy open fire at night. Beds are very comfortable and different washrooms of your choice are available all over the property. We highly recommend this place for everybody especially the ones who are tired of chemical-smelling ordinary hotel rooms. Thanks to our wonderful host Juris! Briniskiga atputas vieta, labaka Latvija!
