Open days in the countryside
Lauku ceļotājs invites you to participate in the campaign "Open Days in the Countryside", which will take place on May 14, 2016.
The goal of the campaign is to popularize the Latvian countryside, products and services grown, produced and prepared in the countryside, as well as to interest residents of large and small cities in getting away from the city for a day to get to know the life of the Latvian countryside, taste the benefits of the countryside, find farms from which to purchase products grown and produced in the countryside, and enjoy the activities and sensations that can be experienced in the Latvian countryside.
To find out what each farm offers on the days of the promotion, opening hours and rules, go to the "participants" section of this promotion page and look for information under the profile of the specific farm.
Tips for tourists when visiting promotional farms:
- Choose farms and plan your route. You can select the farms in the promotion in the "participants" section or in the "map" section. In both sections you can find information about the farms' offer in the promotion. Please note that some accommodations also offer other activities on the promotion day, e.g., tastings, excursions, orienteering, etc.
- Please note that on the day of the promotion, the hosts will be waiting for you from 10:00-18:00 (unless other working hours are indicated in the participant's profile)
- It is mandatory to register your visit with the hosts. We encourage you to coordinate your visit with the hosts in advance so that they can plan to welcome you. You will find the hosts' contact information in the "participants" section when opening the daily offer of the specific farm.
- Recommend this promotion to someone, because traveling together is more interesting and fun!
- Prepare for travel. Remember - there is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing. Therefore, bring comfortable clothing and shoes for travel and the rural environment. At the farms, you will also have the opportunity to purchase products produced and prepared in the countryside, however, not everywhere it is possible to pay with a bank card. To find the farm more easily, explore the location of the farms on the map, use the indicated GPS addresses or take a road map of Latvia with you.
