Памятник „Несущий Крест” был построен в связи с церковным
юбилейным годом. В 1825 г. Святой год был объявлен в Риме, а спустя год
по всему миру. На высоком и похожем на пирамиду постаменте помещено
изваяние Христа, несущего крест. Памятник в 1828 году построил
ливонский каноник, резекненский декан и писатель Язепс Кирилло.
Восстановлен в 1990 году.

The impressive Gauja River valley and its best natural and cultural landscapes can be seen from Paradīze (Gleznotāji) Hill, the Sigulda castle ruins, the aerial tram, the Ferris wheel, the Ziediņi and Pilsēta ski trails, the area of the bobsled and sledding trail, Ķeizarskats, the viewing area of the Velnala cliffs, the mountain bike route of Sigulda (on the right bank of the Gauja, particularly when the trees are bare), the area of the Krimulda castle ruins, Dainu Hill, and the Turaida castle tower.

In Kännu Alpaca Farm you can see Peruvian alpacas, mammals with beautiful, soft coat which they are known for. While in this farm you can feed alpacas with food provided by the owners and pet them. You can also see goats, sheeps, rabbits and chickens. In the farm shop you can buy souvenirs and also products that are made of alpaca wool. Kännu Alpaca Farm is also suitable for family visits. |

This is the thickest European Ash (Fraxius excelsior) in Latvia and the Baltic States. The homestead where the tree is found is the memorial museum of the painter Ģederts Eliass, and for that reason, the tree is sometimes also known as the Eliass ash tree.

Most of this restricted area is made up of a shallow and eutrophic body of water in which many species of birds, including some that are rare and protected, nest. Specialists say that anywhere between 150 and 450 pairs of black-headed gulls nest in this area on a regular basis.

Здесь находится малая часть исторического Винного холма, но есть и новые сады и виноградники, которые в последние годы сильно развились. Посетите Педвале – художественное пространство под открытым небом, а затем и живописную Кулдигу с ее хорошо сохранившимся деревянным зодчеством. В деревенском доме в Скрунде посмотрите, как выращивают грибы шитаки и отведайте блюда, из них приготовленные. Лиепая – энергичный город с его внушительным военным наследием, которое сейчас доступно каждому, красивым пляжем из белого песка. Здесь можно отведать особое блюдо – лиепайскую треску. Затем вас ждет визит на козью ферму и дегустация их продукции. Пройдитесь по крутым берегам Юркалне. Откройте для себя Вентспилс с его многочисленными парками, замком Ливонского Ордена, променадом, молом и хорошо оборудованным пляжем. Маршрут идет до места, где Рижский Залив встречается с открытым морем – на мыс Колка, а затем вдоль побережья к Риге. На пути посетите рыбаков в Энгуре. Понаблюдайте за процессом копчения рыбы и попробуйте ее на вкус. The Gauja National Park, established in 1973, was Latvia’s first national park, and it has a wealth of tradition in environmental protection and tourism. Indeed, the GNP is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Latvia. The main “artery” of the park is the ancient Gauja River valley, which was left behind when Ice Age glaciers receded. The valley is 95 kilometres long, with many tributaries that are also in deep ravines with massive sandstone cliffs from the Devonian period. The deepest part of the river valley is at Sigulda, where it is 85 metres deep. The territory has a great diversity of species – some 900 plant species in all. The Gauja is Latvia’s most popular river for water tourism, and many tourist accommodations are found along its shores. The Gauja National Park is one of the best-appointed protected territories in Latvia in terms of nature trails and tourism routes. Nature trails at Līgatne pass along paddocks of wild animals – the largest and most complete object of its kind in the Baltic States. The park also features cultural monuments of pan-Baltic importance – the Turaida Museum Reserve, the medieval old town of the city of Cēsis with its famous castle ruins and St John’s Church, the lake castle at Āraiši, etc. Visitors centres are found in Sigulda, along the Līgatne nature trails, and at the Zvārte rock. The administration of the GNP is building a new and modern visitors centre in Sigulda.
