Im ehemaligen Gutshofpark von Müüsleri befindet sich eigenartiger Themenpark "Dorf der Schildbürger". Die Attraktionen im Park sind verbunden mit den Sagen von Schildbürgern, die schon vor 400 Jahren in Deutschland bekannt waren. Schildbürger sind Figuren aus einem Witzbuch, berühmt durch ihr unzweckmässige, irrsinnige Tätigkeit und Streiche. 6 km südwestlich von Iecava befindet sich das Elternhaus von Eduards Virza (mit richtigen Namen: Jēkabs Eduards Liekna) (1883-1940), in das der Schriftsteller zusammen mit seiner Frau Elza Stērste 1901 zurückkehrte. Virza war einer der berühmtesten lettischen Dichter und Schriftsteller des 20. Jh., Publizist und Übersetzer von Poesie. Im Haus „Billītes“ entstanden viele Gedichte, und 1933 auch das legendäre Werk „Straumēni“, in dem das Leben des lettischen Bauern geschildert wird. Jetzt befindet sich im Haus „Billītes“ ein Virza-Museum. Dessen Begründer sind die Tochter des Schriftstellers Amarilis Liekna, deren Sohn Edvards Liekna, Tochter Anna Žīgure und Enkelin Diāna. Nach vorheriger Anmeldung können Besucher sich mit den Museumsexponaten und dem Werk von Virza bekanntmachen.

Atrodas 0,1 km austrumos no katoļu bazilikas. Jau no 1825. g. Svētavota ūdeni izmantoja dziednieciskiem mērķiem. Līdz 19. gs. 40. gadiem avota ūdens īpašības bija izslavētas tāpat kā Aglonas Dievmātes svētbildes brīnumdarītājas spējas. Tās savulaikapstiprinājusi Viļņas ārstu komisija un Pēterpils akadēmija, taču ap 1840. g. avots savas īpašības esot zaudējis. Tomēr arī mūsdienās svētceļnieki joprojām tic avota spēkam.

You’re welcome to spend a longer amount of time at this venue with new glamping opportunities in a lovely forested area next to the steep shores of the Misa River.  This offers complete silence with only the woods and the river nearby.  Along with the horses, of course.

“Dabas zirgi” offers strolls with a horse, tours involving feeding the animals, as well as horseback rides.  Family celebrations are perfect here with a lean-to, a grill, and a pot on a campfire.  Contact the venue in advance to arrange for prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner.  There is also a sauna with a jacuzzi.

This park is found in the Otepää highlands and offers an outstanding example of how the terrain of a protected natural territory can be used for recreation, sports and active leisure. The infrastructure of the park is perfect for such activities and is of a high level of quality.

Ein Abschnitt der Schmalspurbahnlinie mit Spurbreite 750 mm, der Alūksne un Gulbene verbindet ist in Teil der ehemaligen Eisenbahnlinie Stukmaņi – Valka. Zurzeit ist es die einzige Schmalspurbahn mit ständigem Personenverkehr in Lettland, die noch im Betrieb ist. Die Bānītis fährt jeden Tag. Ein im Südteil der Stadt Alūksne gebautes Stationsgebäude wurde 1903 eröffnet. Die Linie ist 33 km lang und hat 10 Stationen und Haltepunkte. Die Fahrt mit der Bānītis dauert  ~  eineinhalb Stunden. Populär ist ein jährliches Fest der Schmalspurbahn Alūksne – Gulbene, zu dem viele Gäste kommen.

Das ist Lettlands ältestes Naturreservat und, in der Tat, das älteste geschützte Gebiet des Landes. Moriscala ist eine Insel im See Usma, der der fünftgrößte See in Lettland ist. Das Reservat wurde 1912 auf Initiative einer Gruppe von Naturstudenten von Riga begründet. Sie wollten den Eichenlaubwald auf der Insel schützen und zugleich die örtliche Flora und Fauna. Das Naturreservat schließt auch die Insel Lielalksnīte ein. Besuche des Reservats sind jedoch streng verboten.

There are two islands here – Suur Pakri (Great Pakri) and Väike Pakri (Small Pakri). They are 3 km to the West of Paldiski. During Soviet times, the islands were used for target practice by the Soviet air force, which is seen in the many craters and spent munitions that can be found on the island even today. The island is mostly covered with scrappy areas of juniper, but the limestone cliffs at the northern and north-eastern end of the island are quite impressive – as much as 6 m in height.
