On September 4, "Home Café Days" will have a unified thematic concept that is organised by the new Ropaži Administrative District, which is made up of the former Ropaži, Garkalne and Stopiņi administrative districts. This is being done in partnership with the Salaspils Administrative District. Both are near Rīga and have borders with the southern and south-eastern borders of the capital city. In historical terms, this has been an ancient land of Livs, but today the forests and meadows of the territory are places where natural goodies can be obtained and stored in granaries for people who live in the city.
The Leitmotif for these "Home Café Days" is "On the banks of the river of milk and jelly," thus symbolically and metaphorically marking the two rivers which flow through the administrative districts -- the Great Jugla and Small Jugla rivers. They both flow toward Rīga and are a unifying element for the territories. On the banks of the river, local residents, home producers, businesspeople and other interested parties will organise a feast for visitors. This will create an opportunity to offer a small piece of the small Lilliput, with treats and goodies that have become part of the Latvian lexicology and the concept of "the banks of the river of milk and jelly."
21 cafés will welcome guests at the Ropaži and Salaspils administrative districts.
All events can be found under "Home Cafés" or on the "Map" (in Latvian).
