In the centre of Līgatne, on the right bank on the rapid Līgatne River, there is a viewing plan which offers a close-up look at one of the most impressive sandstone cliffs which rise above it – the Lustūzis cliff. The Ķemeri National Park was established in 1997 and mostly involves wetlands – the shallow shores of the Bay of Rīga, an overgrown seaside lake, vast swamps, damp forests and fens, and flood-land meadows. The park is enormously important for protecting plants (25% of those recorded in Latvia’s Red Book are found in the park) and animals, particularly nesting and migrating birds. The Great Ķemeri Bog is one of the largest swamps in Latvia, and there are other swamps, as well – the Zaļais swamp and the Raganu swamp. The massive swamps are important, too, in the flow of sulphuric waters and medicinal mud. The once-famous Ķemeri Spa was based on the availability of these resources. Most of the cultural and historical objects in the Ķemeri National Park relate to the seashore as a place for leisure and recuperation. Educational nature trails, bicycle trails, hiking trails, bird-watching towers and other facilities are available. The visitors centre is at the recently renovated “Forest House” in Ķemeri.

Temporary exhibitions are held in the barn and more than 200 species of trees and shrubs can be viewed in the parkland extending over 17 ha. This farm offers tours for children who can become friends of horses, look at Angus cattle and learn about a dairy farm.  The children are transported in a specially adapted cart that is pulled by a tractor.  The farm plans to purchase some alpacas in 2018.

The first written records of the manor date from 1422, its fate in the 20th C was very chequered with changing hands and functions many times. The 60 km cross-border cycling trail along the Koiva/Gauja River in Estonia and Latvia was completed in 2010. The trail begins at Tellingumäe car park, start and finish points of the trail and the border crossing site are supplied with resting areas and information boards with maps. Signposts are located at crossroads where there may be confusion for cyclists; attractions near the main route are also signposted. Information boards are provided in Estonian, Latvian and English. Tellingumäe car park is also a starting point for an 18-km cycling route.

Take a train from Riga to Cēsis and stay in the very heart of this chaming town. It is one of the most attractive Latvian provincial towns with a medieval Livonian Order Castle, a New Castle containing an excellent regional history museum and creative workshops, a charming Old Town with St. John's Church and several cosy cafes and restaurants with live music at weekends.
There are two downhill skiing centres, Žagarkalns and Ozolkalns at the town suburbs, with well stocked equipment hire, snow machines, skiing slopes (the longest 500 m), a snowboard park, nursery slopes for beginners and kids, trained instructors, first aid post and cafes.

Līdz 1918. g. muižas īpašnieki bija slaveno grāfu Šeremetjevu dzimta. Muižas pili nodedzināja 1905. g. nemieros, bet vēlāk atjaunoja.
