St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Nagļi was built
in 1862 by landlord Nābels. Some time ago, Nagļi Church was a branch of Viļāni Church. The Bernardian
monks served there. After the closing of the cloisters in 1930s, the church was served by priests.

The first written records of the manor date from 1422, its fate in the 20th C was very chequered with changing hands and functions many times. This is a simple one-story building with a cross on its roof. The Pitrags congregation was established in 1890, but the church was built in 1902. It was restored after a World War I fire in 1925 and 1926, and restored again during the period of Latvia's restored period of independence. |

The excessively damp forests at this place include the Vēršupīte River bog, and this is one of the most diverse biotopes in Latvia in terms of the number of species that can be found here. The fact that the area is regularly flooded is shown by the fat roots of black alders – indeed, the place looks like a stand of mangroves. The wooden pathway that is the Dumbrāju trail starts at the Forest House for those who wish to examine the bog. The most impressive views are seen during spring floods or rainy seasons at other times of the year. The little river breaks out of its bed and floods a large territory. The Lake Sloka hiking trail is another place where you can study the Vēršupīte bog. The circular trail is 3 km long, and its beginning is at the Lake Sloka bird watching tower. |

The territory has been established for protection of the bog and its habitat species. It is not appropriate for visits. Three little lakes can be found on the left bank of the Pirita River with many erupting “eyes” of streams, each with its own colour (bluish-green, white, dark). This puts together various colour combinations. These are often known as the most beautiful streams in Estonia. Some pump out as much as 20-30 litres of water per hour. It is said that the waters are good medical resources, particularly for the eyes. There are improvements in the area of tourists.
