1935. gadā Tūjā darbojās ķieģeļu ceplis, kas ražošanā izmantoja apkārtnē esošās Devona perioda mālu iegulas. 1936. gadā uzsāka jaunās fabrikas celtniecību. Šeit ražoja arī augstas kvalitātes ķieģeļus, ar kuriem tika apšūts arī Rīgas Pulvertornis. Tagad fabrikas vietā ir pamests grausts, kas redzams no Tūjas centra, ejot jūras virzienā.

All that’s left of the battery today are the ruins of a cement blockhouse which have slid all the way down to the beach because of years of abuse by the wind and the waves. It is an interesting monument to history with a long-term fate that we can guess at – it will disappear under the sea.

This landscape park has survived to the present day and was installed between 1850 and 1860.  On one side the territory has a boundary that is the dammed Kruoja River, and on the other side there is a fence made of fieldstones.  The English park principles at that time meant that advantage was given to a natural landscape with imitations of nature.  There are some 26 types of trees in the park, and some of them were introduced from various parts of the world a few centuries ago.

This nature park covers an area of the Baltic Sea coast and part of newly established sea protected area "Nida - Pērkone" with sand dunes which once used to move around but have now settled.
