The route leads mostly through the Gauja National Park where you will see the most beautiful river valley in the Baltic States. It is the ancient Gauja River valley with gorgeous flora and fauna and the mightiest Devonian-period sandstone cliffs, in the region. While riding the route, you can study Latvia's most brilliant medieval city, Cēsis. You can visit medieval castles and castle ruins there and in Sigulda. A guide will take through underground bunkers in Līgatne which were secret in soviet times and have no analogue in North-eastern Europe. You will then pass through the beautiful Otepaa highlands and the Lahemaa National Park in Estonia. The old town of Tallinn is on the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. |

Ar mežiem, purviem un ezeriem (Riču, Sila u.c.) bagāta teritorija Latvijas - Baltkrievijas pierobežā. Galvenās aizsargājamās dabas vērtības - dažāda veida purvu, mežu un ezeru biotopi un tajos mītošās augu un dzīvnieku sugas. Ezeru krastos, kurus iecienījuši vietējie atpūtnieki, atrodas vairākas naktsmītnes. Ilgas muiža (celta 19. gs. kā medību pils) ir Daugavpils Universitātes studentu prakses vieta. Silenes dabas parkā ietilpst arī Glušonkas purva un Ilgas dabas liegumi.

Plieņciema taka atrodas dabas liegumā "Plieņciema kāpa" starp Plieņciemu un Ķesterciemu. Pāri kāpai ir izveidota laipu taka un atpūtas vieta. Taka ir izveidota, lai mazinātu negatīvo ietekme uz Plieņciema kāpas dabas vērtībām – zemsedzes nomīdīšanu, piegružošanu ar atkritumiem, braukšanu ar autotransportu.

The congregation was established very recently. Nevertheless the 14 meters high tower was constructed in
2004. The Prayer House is a very simple building but you will be pleased to see the magnificent icons. The
Prayer House has been renovated completely.

Medumu ezera salām ir dabas lieguma statuss. Teritoriju šķērso vairāki grantēti ceļi, no kuriem dažviet paveras brīnišķīgas, bet nelabiekārtotas skatu vietas. Teritorijā atrodas Medumu katoļu baznīca. Piemērota teritorija dažādu aktīvā tūrisma veidu attīstībai. Dabas parks ietilpst Augšzemes aizsargājamo ainavu apvidū. |

“Vēveri” is located 7 km to the North of the centre of Vecpiebalga and offers a look at typical and authentic farms and craftsmen’s operations from the Piebalga landscape in the 19th century. You will wee ancient tools and household objects, as well as a recently restored windmill. |

Ap 7 km garā apļveida taka sākas pie leģendārajām Mangaļu mājām. Tā iepazīstina ar latviešu strēlnieku kauju vietām, vietām, kur atradušās to fortifikācijas, t.s. „Vācu valni” u.c. liecībām. Mangaļu mājās – Ziemassvētku kaujām veltīts muzejs. |

This building was erected in 1903 and 1904 to be used for military training, exercises and ceremonial events. An addition to the South of the building held a small church, but it is gone. The building was used for gymnastics performances and competitions for horseback riders. Official meals for the garrison’s sailors were held there, too – the hall could hold up to 3,000 people. Only the outer walls survive today, sad to say. You can view the exterior and interior of the hall at any time. This is the only building of its size and type in Latvia. The roof once had bands of glass tiles.

This is the only dairy processing company in Latvia to prepare “Tea” cheese from fresh milk and with various flavours. One of the buildings of the Kalnmuiža Estate has an oven in which the owner bakes rye bread with seeds, sourdough bread, and bread with dried fruit. Informational tours are available, and you can take part in the baking process. You can taste the bread and buy loaves to take home with you. |

The fisherman’s homestead that is alongside the Kolka Lutheran Church offers a look at how fish are smoked and prepared. You can taste the fish and purchase fish that were caught in the sea (mostly plaice). |

Roman Catholic Church of Divine Grace – On 19 April 1998, the so-called “White Sunday” or the Day of Divine Grace, Saulkrasti Roman Catholic Church of Divine Grace was consecrated. The building is 24 m long and its tower is 16 m high. The 300-seat church was designed by the architect Jānis Šrēders. The image of Christ on the altarpiece was derived from the vision of the saint, Sister Faustina, of 22 February 1931 in a monastery in Poland. The altarpiece was created by the artist Ēriks Pudzēns. 14 paintings on the walls of the church depict Christ’s path of suffering from conviction to resurrection. The altar is built of ash. On 2 August 1998, a 7.38 m tall cross was consecrated by Saulkrasti Roman Catholic Church of Divine Grace. At night this cross is illuminated. The cross is similar to the cross of Golgotha in Jerusalem where Jesus Christ was crucified. |
