During restorations of the tower of the Kolka Lutheran church in the 1990s, a document was found which spoke to the conversion of many Livs to the Orthodox faith. The document was placed in the tower in 1885, when the church was being constructed, and it says that the decision by Livs to join the Orthodox church was based not on faith, "but instead as a resource for accessing advantages in relation to land." The Orthodox congregation purchased land from a local aristocrat in 1885, and in 1990, a church, manse and school were built on the land. All three buildings have survived to the present day. The church has its own congregation, and worship services are held once a month. There are news to show that Kolka is the only Liv shoreline village in which an Orthodox church was built during the 1890s. The church's bell dates back to 1936. During the Soviet era, the church was used as a mortuary, but today its original functions have been restored to it. |

Found in the Alsunga Museum, this workshop demonstrates how the folk costumes and accessories of the Suiti community are produced. Visitors can learn about weaving traditions in the area and examine the colourful range of folk costumes. Visitors are welcome to try their hand at the work under the guidance of experienced specialists. |

The Velēna Lutheran Church is at the crossing of the Smiltene-Gulbene-Lizums roads. It is said that the roof of the first wooden church at this location had a peat moss roof. The organ from the Sauer company still works, and it is one of the best organs in Latvia. The organist offers guided tours of the church. |

The history of Līgatne cannot be separated from the paper factory which was once the only factory of its kind in Latvia. Tours are available in the company of a guide. During the late 19th and early 20th century, the company built homes, a school, a birthing centre, a hospital, a club, a guesthouse and other buildings for its employees, and most of these buildings have survived to this day. There are more than 200 interesting underground passageways which are still used as warehouses for various items, including vegetables. |

The tour from Rīga to Tallinn combines natural and cultural heritage and includes lovely landscapes and 15 nature trails which cross marshlands, meadows and forests along the shores of the Baltic Sea, including several protected nature reserves. Many trails are equipped with viewing towers for birdwatching. Randu meadows near Ainaži contains one third of Latvia’s entire plant species. A boardwalk leads through reeds to a viewing platform with views over the meadow and the sea. Saaremaa island is interesting with very different natural attractions to the mainland - dolomite cliffs, juniper heaths, a meteorite lake and rocky sea shore. The tour passes rural farms and traditional villages typical of the coastal areas. Hiiumaa island is a laid back place and retains a very Estonian atmosphere with an important bird reserve at Käina Bay, unusual Sääre Tirp as well as several small islets off its south-eastern coast. Ismeri exists since 1861.

The craftsman produces wooden dishware and other products, making use of many local species of trees. The technique is unusual and reveals the specific texture of timber. The artist has masterfully integrated amber, bone and animal horn in his dishware. He also engraves spoons with ethnographic signs. You can commission or purchase products from the master craftsman, who also restores wooden furniture. |

The visitors are offered the excursion around the wine garden and the story about different sorts of grapes and the secrets of wine-making. During the excursion the vistiors can learn about the traditions of growing grapes in Latvia, to see and taste the newest tendencies of grape selectioning,as well as receive advice on growing and tending grapes. This is the farm of a moderately wealthy Selonian farmer from the 19th century. It features a residential building with a mantel chimney, two granaries, a threshing barn, a sauna, a windmill, a smithy, a steam locomotive and a threshing machine. Groups will enjoy thematic programmes such as “Crafts at the Selonian Farm,” “When Honey Melts on Your Tongue,” and “A Wedding at the Selonian Farm.” |

Pils iela pazīstama ar jūgendstila apbūvi, kas veidojusies 19. un 20. gs. mijā veco vienstāvu ēku vietā. Pirmā ēka Pils ielā 30 (jaušama jūgendstila ietekme) tika uzcelta 1901. g. Pils un Kuģinieku ielas krustojumā (Pils iela 40) paceļas 1905. g. celtais Vulfsona trīsstāvu īres nams, ko var pazīt pēc neobarokālā stila torņa. Netālu esošo ēku Pils ielā 31 un 38 (Mūzikas skola) fasādes jau ir uzskatāmas par raksturīgiem jūgendstila paraugiem. Savukārt, ēku Kuģinieku ielā 2 uzskata par vienu no skaistākajiem Latvijas jūgendstila namiem ārpus Latvijas galvaspilsētas. Uzmanība jāpievērš arī ēkām Pils ielā 54 un 60. |

The Ferris wheel that is in Sigulda is on the corner of Leona Paegles and Cēsu streets, and it is only open during the summer. If you ride the wheel, you can take lovely snapshots of the ancient Gauja River valley. |

The distance from Riga to Tallinn is more than 300 km and it takes approx. 5 hours by bus. Therefore we suggest stopping on the way for a brief excursion to a herb farm and lunch in a country pub. This stopover is approx. 1.5 hours’ drive from Riga, just at that point when one needs to stretch one’s legs and enjoy a change of scene. The visit will give an insight in rural life and it may surprise visitors to learn how well Latvians understand nature, knowing and using herbs for food, health and beauty. After the excursion, the group will have lunch in a country pub serving meals made from locally grown ingredients. |

A small settlement with a school, library and shop. North from the Vidale are visible remains of the windmill. Going towards the Gulf of Riga, the road crosses Shlitere Zilie mountain precipice with spectacular views during late autumn, early spring and winter, when there are no leaves on the trees and sandstone outcrops. To the left you can see Zilie mountain spring - a landscaped water taking place. Road that runs from the Vidale to Melnsils side, is called by the locals Knipeldambi. They say that it was built by the German army first During World War I, putting logs on the road and covering them with sand. |

This is the second thickest tree in Latvia and the Baltic States. There is a large and open hole in the trunk of the tree. Like most trees of its size, it has suffered lightning damage. The tree is a wonderful part of the landscape, and a little wooden fence has been put up around it.
