Protected landscape area are territories which are distinguished by unique and diverse landscapes of particular beauty.  The aim is to protect and preserve Latvia’s cultural environment and landscape in their diversity, as well as to ensure the preservation of an environment which is appropriate for public leisure and tourism and which is managed on the basis of procedures which are environmentally friendly.
