The zenith missile brigade and its communications headquarters were used for the provision, planning and co-ordination of radio communications. The object is all but abandoned, but it is owned by the Latvian Repatriation Centre and the Christian Mission.

Boaters along the Gauja will see the Velnala cliffs, which are the last mighty wall along the banks of the Gauja River valley – approximately 15 m high. From the opposite shore of the river, where there are leisure facilities, once can spot the Krimulda Devil’s cave, which is in the centre of the cliff, is some 19 m deep, and is 4.7 m high. There were once wooden structures which allowed people to visit the cave, but that stopped in 1980 for safety reasons. If you head toward Turaida along the lower part of the basic Gauja River shoreline from the Velnala cliffs, then, particularly when the trees are bare, you will see the mighty sandstone Piķene cliff. At its foot is the Piķene beaver trail, which is approximately 1 km long. On quiet evenings, you may well spot a beaver at work. Along the path you will see the Small Devil’s cave (5 m deep) with the Wisdom Stream that flows out of it. The Aunapiere cave is almost as deep. Between the cliff and the Gauja are several small rivulets which are of enormous importance in preserving the diversity of the surrounding environment. |

Koņuciems of Pape is one of the few seashore fishing villages in Latvia to have preserved an authentic environment to the present day. The Latvian Open-Air Ethnographic Museum has a branch here, “Vītolnieki”, and this is an authentic and ancient fisherman’s farm. +371-2926-2283. The work of black ceramics masters in Latgale fits into modern interiors. The Aglona Bread Museum offers a chance for visitors to bake their own loaf of bread. The visit to the next farm will allow you to add tasty cheese that has been made from milk from Latvian brown cows. The last stop in Latvia will be Daugavpils, which features an art centre featuring the work of the globally known abstractionist Mark Rothko, as well as the Daugavpils fortress, that was built in the 19th century and is an impressive military building. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations. From there you will travel to Lithuania, where you will visit several traditional farms. The Ilzenbergo Dvaras estate has a bio-dynamic farm. You will taste Lithuania's national sweets which are called šakotis. You will visit the town of Anykščiai, which offers a hike along a trail that is above the trees. A horse museum offers a look at old farm equipment. Next you will visit farms that will inform you about traditional Lithuanian cuisine and the work of potters. The Dubingiu horse farm offers horseback rides. At the conclusion of the tour you will visit the unique Trakai lake castle (14th and 15th century), as well as Vilnius. |

For the introduction into the Latvian craftsmanship make a visit to the Open-Air Ethnographic Museum in Riga where skillful masters will show you traditional skills. Latgale region is famous for its pottery schools and "black" ceramics. You visit few workshops on the way as well as Ludzas Crafts Centre which provides great insight into local traditions. At the typical Latgalian farm try traditional sauna ritual and have proper regional meal. Further on stop at the Aglona Basilica which is a pilgrimage place. But for stomach pleasures visit Bread Museum, farm which produces tasty cheeses and other healthy diary products as well as visit herbal tea maker and learn there few health tips. Sightseeing of Daugavpils historic centre, impressive 19th century' s fortress are followed by visit to Lead Shot Factory where is a biggest shot towers in Europe which still works. The Trakai Island Castle is the only East Europe's castle which is built on a little island. The process of building this castle started in 14th century. After its fall on 1410 during a war it lost its meaning as a military base and became a living place for ruler of Lithuania. Trakai Castle is one of the most popular objects in Lithuania for tourists. Inside the castle is a museum which tells about Trakai history.

The word zivis means fish, and the name of the street is derived from a fish market that once existed at the end of the street near Kurši Square. There are old log warehouses in the yard of Zivju Street 4/6 and the yard of Peldu Street 2. One of the most popular destinations for tourists is the Latvian alley of fame for musicians (since 2006), with bronze replications of the palms of hands of 35 Latvian musicians. There are ten plaques dedicated to popular bands in Latvia, with five others focusing on musicians who have passed away. The largest guitar in Latvia is right nearby. |

Zīleņu Sacrificial Boulder.You will find it on Zelenpole Golden hill beside the escarpment. The boulder
has an annular curvy. It was an ancient Latgalian cult place where people sacrificed to Gods, released themselves
from the bad things and took a positive energy.

Īdeņa graveyard chapel has Catholic church services. Īdeņa chapel was built in 1898 by the foundation
of dean Smilgevičs. The church is devoted to the honor of the Holy Cross. The chapel has a small bell tower
and the weatherboards. You shouldn’t miss the chapel’s special celebration that is the indulgences of St.
Francis of Assisi, stigmata day in September 17.

The road trip from Vilnius to Rīga will take you to the most beautiful and important sightseeing places of the Next on the route is the Dubysa Regional Park, which includes the spectacular Dubysa river valley, historic churches and mounds along its banks. Be prepared, since the terrain of this area is rather rolling. Next, you will visit the town of Šiluva, which is a Catholic pilgrimage site, and then travel to the Tytuvėnai Regional Park, where you walk the natural trail of the lake of Gilius, which is part of the Forest Trail. The tour will continue in the Kurtuvėnai Regional Park, where you will walk one section of the Forest Trail from Kurtuvėnai to Šaukėnai, leading along small forest trails, educational trails, beautiful tree alleys and through wetlands. Then you will go to the region of Samogitia, visiting Telšiai and walk one of the Forest Trail sections along Lake Plateliai. Next, the tour takes you through the stone town of Mosėdis to Latvia, where you will stop over to have a walk on one of the oldest towns in Latvia – Aizpute, enjoying its 19th century wooden architecture and the local wine brewery. Next you will take a small walk along the Forest Trail in the eye-catching Kazdanga manor park and drive on to the most beautiful town of Kurzeme – Kuldīga. The farm "Kronīši" is located in Viļķenes Parish, Limbažu County. The farm grows organic vegetables that are processed into various home preserves. Teas are produced from plants collected from organic meadows, jams, preserves, syrups and juices are also on offer. Fruits and berries are collected from the garden itself, as well as from local farmers and the nearby Rūstuži and Blome marshes. The farm welcomes tourists and exchange groups with prior application. The "Stender's" bar is situated in the centre of the city of Kuldiga at the start of Liepājas Street, which is the main pedestrian and biking thoroughfare in Kuldīga. The two-story wood building was once a granary and is of architectural importance. The bar is situated on the second floor of the building, with the lowest door jambs in Kuldiga and wooden shears in the bar. Latvian cuisine: Farmer’s breakfast, oatmeal, cold kefir soup, sorrel, cucumber and bean soup, beef in onion sauce, hunter’s sausages, potato pancakes, sweet pancakes with lingonberry sauce. |
